Discover Albia lives! More importantly, Fizzbee had herself a fun but uneventful summer… Until today. She found an unknown package and decided to investigate while I got myself caught up on all Creatures-related stuff. In short, the regular posts about my Creatures 1 world will be making a triumphant return, complete with some videos sprinkled throughout! I apologize for my absence, although life sometimes gets in the way of all the fun stuff. All is well, though: I’ve simply been extremely busy with rather boring things! I thought I could go a bit longer, then I started looking at my last posts and realized I needed some Norns (and Grendels) back in my life. I’ve also missed the community tremendously, and hope everyone has been doing well! But what is Fizzbee up to?
Oh my! Apparently she decided that since the surprise was purple, it was most certainly just for her. I found her cuddled up with it, still in the shiny plastic wrap! Want to know a secret? I’m one of those rather rare people who has never read any of the Harry Potter books, but saw all of the movies. After hearing about how the books are leagues ahead, I decided to jump onboard just a little late. Ha ha! Fortunately, it’s almost like the books are being released again with the illustrated editions that are just starting to come out. Since I love illustrations and want to get away from the movie imagery as much as possible, this idea was planted in my head to start here. Trouble is… It seems like a little Norndoll is all set on laying claim to this beautiful book! For those wondering, this is the deluxe illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone from Bloomsbury, with text by J.K. Rowling and illustrations by Jim Kay. It comes in a special cardboard box, and lies within a special slip cover. There are plenty of extra things, too, although Fizzbee warned me not to prattle on too long. This is just so pretty! There is also a standard illustrated edition in a smaller format, but with all of the same lovely illustrations. I guess this one isn’t exactly Norndoll-sized…
When Fizzbee agreed that her tiny arms weren’t going to do much good, I ripped open the plastic and slid the book out of its slipcase. Before I could actually open it, someone decided to plop herself on the cover to admire the artwork. Does looking at Diagon Alley upside down do something magical? This Norndoll decided to test it out, and she was very pleased with the way she matched the cover. On a side note, this is the British version of the text with the original title. I may be in the United States, yet I prefer “Philosopher’s Stone” to “Sorcerer’s Stone” for a variety of reasons. Fizzbee is an original, too, and she would much rather stick with being called a Norndoll than a… Norn action figure?
In all seriousness, Discover Albia will be back in action within the next week! Clearly I have a book to read, and once I wrestled it from Fizzbee, I got about halfway through it. And I love it. I turn a page every now and then to a literal gasp because there are so many surprises in the illustrations. Can one describe this as beautiful reading? It all seems quite familiar since I’ve seen all of the movies, yet it’s also so different… Sort of the way Creatures is after all this time. Many may know that the 20th anniversary of Creatures 1 is just about a month away, and I’ve been in touch with some wonderful people who will be doing some special things to mark the occasion. More on that news soon! Keep on enjoying Creatures, and get ready for some fun-filled adventures over here!
Happy Reading from She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named!
