A Pair of Final Resting Places in Albia
Written onThe first natural death in this generation was somewhat unexpected, and I laid my eyes on a lifeless Dallben. He struggled to properly eat during his last hours, but I thought he would be around a little longer. At just 9 hours and 5 minutes old, he was one of the youngest Norns to pass away from old age. I took solace in the fact that we played with the ball together just minutes before he collapsed. Dallben was active and spry right up until his untimely end. Farewell old friend.
Before I could say my final goodbye to Dallben, another death occurred to make the occasion even more somber. I found Coll on the island, which he had just reached after an oceanic voyage. He, too, had been an awful eater in his later hours. Coll had remained stuck in the incubator area for a long time, so I was surprised to find that he had made this final journey. He only had a single egg with his DNA, and I hoped that he would be able to live on. Rest in peace.
I was convinced that my luck had completely run out. Don’t let Fflewddur’s smile paint a rosy picture! He became ill with a contagious sickness that quickly sapped his life force. Though he spent a considerable amount of time with about four other Norns, he kept this nasty bug to himself. However, I thought he would join his fallen brethren, for he refused to eat. I watched Fflewddur’s life force quickly fall to about 45%. He decided to mock me by throwing a carrot on the floor and standing on top of it with a nonchalant grin on his face. A slap convinced him to finally eat and recover!
Some happy news found its way to me, thankfully! Among the deaths and chaos, I had been hoping for something positive. Ellidyr and Achren were parents again! This lovely pair now had eight eggs of their own. They were very affectionate Grendels, not only to each other, but also to the Norns. Ellidyr was rather excited about his growing brood… Achren seemed a little more distressed! I laughed over their very different expressions, though I suspected the tired mother simply needed a rest. Leaver her be, Ellidyr!
