A Mother Norn and Her Egg
Written onThe incessant slapping kept most of my Norns from enjoying much of anything. I resorted to moving the alpha couple to a quiet place for a little bit, where they could catch their breath! During that time, Ginda decided that it was time for another egg! She looked like the proudest mother in the world when she laid her egg, and I couldn’t help but wonder if she knew what was inside. This was the only egg during this pregnancy, which could have accounted for her happiness! Laying so many at once had to be quite uncomfortable, especially since it resulted in a much tougher experience for the mother.
Then, Ginda made my day. I picked up and moved her egg to the designated hatching spot, and I was met with this sour face! Not only was Ginda proud of that black and white egg: She was also extremely protective of it! Afterwards, she made her displeasure with my behavior known to all who would listen. That crowd turned out to include myself, yet I understood her maternal instincts. Ginda had only been pregnant once before, and it seemed like she was choosing her timing carefully. Would Amrin end up being the alpha couple’s only son?
That’s not only beautiful; it’s incredible! Norns displaying any kind of maternal or paternal instincts towards their babies seems a rare thing in Creatures, which makes this all the more special. I just love the look on her face in that second picture, with what it’s related to of course! Oh well, even if she hates Mama Jessica now, it’s for a good reason. Hee hee! <3 I hope Ginda gets to have more eggs in future. She seems like a lovely girl.
I had to laugh when I saw this happen! Ginda wanted to keep that egg nearby, and I’m hoping this will lead to a few more pregnancies. She’s actually one of the few Norns who doesn’t slap all that much, as is Keersho. This might mean that the next alpha male will be a nice one… But as always, only time will tell!
I really love these mini-updates – they’re like little vignettes of the world. :) Not to say that I don’t love the thorough posts as well, just that these are really cute, too. :)
Thanks, Malkin! I tend to get carried away with really long updates, so I’m planning on throwing in a couple of short, interesting posts from time to time. I’m sure that helps those who don’t have too much time to read my typical long posts!
I’m all for posts of all shapes and sizes, if that help anything! :D
As for maternal Norns, I tend to get sour looks when I steal Eggs as well. Though some of the time that’s because I have to snag them from Norn hands.
I do wonder what my Norns thing of that strange, nameless, disembodied hand floating about, moving Norns to the gender areas, then the co-op area and finally stealing their Eggs.
And, of course, doing the dirty work.
