Travel and Music in Albia

The waterfall certainly was an interesting sight for Auja! The tranquil sound and peaceful, neverending flow were enough to keep her enraptured. I was rather alarmed at her pose, however: She looked perilously close to toppling into the shallow pond beneath her! How she kept her balance as the platform started moving was beyond me. It must have been stressful: Auja fell asleep shortly after landing on the other side of the pond! All of that acrobatic work was enough to snuff out her energy reserves. At least it helped her work on her balance and coordination: A Norn can never have enough of those! Luckily, they tend not to fall over ever, yet I still wonder how some of them move around when they spin around so much.

Meanwhile, Freya had an absolutely wonderful time beating a tune on the drum! The carrot seed she had in her hand did not show up in this picture, but she was using it as some sort of organic drumstick. The poses she had were quite hilarious… It looked like it was taking all of her energy to come up with the fastest drumbeat she could muster! She might have be the oldest Norn in the world, but Freya was determined to show off her energetic spirit! Drumming was not something reserved for the youngsters in Albia. It looked rather fun and exciting, particularly at the pace Freya was keeping.

The Horse Norn smile is adorable! Freya flashed a big grin for the camera after she had been beating the drum senseless. Her blonde hair stayed perfectly in place, of course. Only the Horse Norns or their descendants know how to keep their hairdos in place at all times. Freya pretty much ignored everything else in Albia as she played her heart out! The nearby harp never got any attention. Perhaps the next musical Norn will decide to take on this new instrument. Imagine the possibilities for an Albian band! Maybe not the best idea, though. They mainly enjoy loud noises, as opposed to actual beats and rhythms.

On the other side of the world, Wyrrd tried her luck at balancing on the cart that traveled underneath the ocean. I thought it would be good for her to try to make it to the settlement, but she only made it across after falling asleep. I guess the ride really was not that exciting! Wyrrd was the first one to try it out, though. I somehow doubted if she had any memory of the ocean… I would have been thrilled to take such a ride, but such things were mere child’s play! At least it was something for Norns and Grendels to enjoy, in some way.

Dvalin was still a bit dejected in the world. I snapped this picture a second too late, for he was napping just next to Vanadis. At least he finally got some attention from another Norn. Vanadis also met him very early on in life, although she treated him as a bit more of an outsider. Grendels and Norns can coexist peacefully, though: Too bad Freya all but forgot about her good friend. Dvalin was rather quiet and friendly: The perfect combination to create a friend!

I laughed when I saw Loki at the pianolo! He looked like he was dancing with himself and thoroughly enjoying the tune. What a funny Norn! I was lucky to spot him in this pose, even if it lasted for just a few moments. He eventually found Vanadis and Dvalin when he took a ride down the lift. Not too surprisingly, Vanadis became pregnant in a matter of minutes. Loki had not fathered any children, so it was a very happy moment. Perhaps his child will inherit the same love for music!

The sneaky Baldur looked simply adorable and mischievous when I found him near the waterfall. He has been a genius in spreading his genes evenly: He has fathered three children with three of the four females in Albia. Only Wyrrd has eluded his grasp, but she has shown an affinity for Thor. I have a suspicion that Baldur will eventually kisspop with Wyrrd, though. He always seems to be everywhere! Perhaps he has some sort of magic broom that takes him around the world without anyone knowing. We’re all onto you, Baldur!

Dvalin made it back to his favorite spot in front of the fire. He was very happy to spend a little more time with me. The carrots and lemons that I brought him cheered him up quite a bit, but I thought that he enjoyed the company much more. He has been a genuine explorer, and has even recovered from his hootch addiction! Never underestimate a Grendel: Sometimes he or she can stir up the most emotions, and result in the highest level of attachment. Something about those deep red eyes touches the heart.
