The Secret Behind a Norn’s Smile

I caught up with Taran in the caves beneath the desert island. He was grateful to escape from the grasp of the sunlight, and Llyan soon joined him. She was just shy of twelve hours old, and I knew her time was nearly up. It was a complete surprise when Taran declared this the perfect time to create a new egg! That silly and devious look in his faded eyes brought back the sparkle. Meanwhile, I had to panic just a bit… Llyan was the oldest Norn, and had been leading a very quiet life for a short time. She had a little time left, though.

My only other male was Rhun, who had taken up residence beneath the waterfall. He was far more introverted than the others, and it looked like he would only have two eggs to his name. Luckily, he was rather content. I only needed to remind him to do something with that honeypot every now and again! The ironic part was that he was just one floor up from Adaon’s little lair, yet Rhun never showed any interest in using the lift. Maybe it was his way of just sitting back and enjoying the quiet side of Albia. It was a nice respite for me when I visited him to get away from the usual Creatures madness!

I found a very happy, yet very discombobulated, Orddu posing on the island. She found some shelter beneath an umbrella, though the sunshine perked her right up. In all actuality, it was the honey: The secret behind many of my photos has always been honey. A fairly healthy Norn might look unhappy, but a taste or two from a honeypot often brings out a smile! Hand a honeypot to a Norn whenever the opportunity for a photo might pop up… Smiles are almost sure to abound! Orddu was no exception, although I wasn’t sure how happy she truly would be with that disjointed ankle. In any event, she was the only company for Melyngar, who had completely lost the ability to eat. Her life force was at a mere 30%, and there was nothing I could do to help. A honeypot would not be enough.

On the other hand, Orgoch was in no mood to share a smile with me. Her pregnancy lasted an unusually long time, and I thought Llyan might lay her egg first! Despite the feeling of relief that arrived with her egg, Orgoch was rather upset over the experience. I had a feeling she would be hiding out from Taran… If she could! Taran had strong ties back to his grandfather, who had fathered a stunning fourteen children. Taran was actually pretty close, with nine unhatched eggs from him! He was one happy Norn, though, and I could hardly blame him for sharing his happiness and love. I only hoped he could go after some of the younger females to add a little more diversity!
