An Easter Egg Hunt in Albia
Written onSince Arnessa’s untimely demise, there have been no more pregnancies or births. I think all of the Norns are feeling a little melancholy, even though no one witnessed the actual death. Fortunately, everyone has been enjoying themselves in some way or another. An important case point is Noric, who has made a wonderful recovery from his lack of eating. I take responsibility, but only grudgingly!
The docks are a very nice and quiet place for self-reflection, which Noric gladly took part in. If only the vehicles would not move themselves and interrupt a little meditation! On a random side note, I really love the backgrounds in Creatures 1. I always thought the backdrop was beautifully done, and it really makes Albia seem like a new world. There is never a boring area, for there is always something to spot in the distance. The appearance of the world wasn’t exactly correct in terms of its physical description, yet that only adds to its mysterious nature!
Extremely happy smiles don’t come out all too often, and Noric hasn’t been this happy since his childhood. This was part of another reunion with Adria, who had been traveling back and forth with the submarine. She found carrots on her return trip most of the time, although it was hard work lugging those orange delicacies around! Noric was ecstatic to find his first love again, especially after they had experienced the loss of their last child. Norns can’t feel too many emotions, yet these two shared a common bond of grief that brought them closer together.
Meanwhile, Avira was looking pretty tired back in the serenity of the garden. Wait a second… Is that an egg?! I was nearly positive I had checked the observation kit just moments before! I love how she laid her egg right near a lemon: Aside from the color, perhaps she was going for a little bit of camouflage. This will be Avira’s first child, and our very first third generation Norn! Forging forward through the generations already!
While pondering who the father of Avira’s first baby could be, I noticed that a second egg event had appeared on the status bar. Sure enough, Evria had laid an egg near the submarine bay! Not a very good location, although I’m sure it was nice to have her daughter, Evrietta, with her for some support. I imagine it was a nice bonding situation for the two of them! This photo also shows that Evrietta is just slightly different from Evria in appearance: She inherited her arms from Noric! If they were identical, I would be struggling through figuring out who was who when Evrietta grew up.
Remember how Noric was so very excited to meet up with Adria again? She is currently pregnant with her fourth baby! In a very short period of time, Albia will be teeming with three new baby Norns! Population explosion? Just a little bit! But the interesting point is that I’m not sure who the father is of Avira’s and Evria’s babies. Diren and Noric both spent some time with them at around the time when they would have become pregnant. Could Diren finally have his first child, or is Noric still the king of fertility?
The C1 background was actually made from clay
Great point, Fireshard! I had read that the Creatures 1 background was based on a real model, but I dug a little deeper. The Creatures Wiki has a wonderful page about the C1 background, along with an image of the real model! Very interesting: I don’t know of any other games based on actually developing a clay model of the environment… Then again, I’m not the most knowledgeable when it comes to all the games out there! Thanks again for bringing this up: Another aspect that makes Creatures so much different than the average game!
Haha, played Creatures 1 years and years ago and never knew that. Totally awesome :D
I wasn’t aware of the real model until just recently, too! Interestingly enough, two of the original clay models are now up for bid on eBay. Creatures Caves has a topic discussing the models and how the community can make sure that they end up in responsible hands. Quite a coincidence that they suddenly showed up now! I really hope the two models end up in the right hands.
Old post, but all this talk of models and clay reminds me of a PC title called The Neverhood, where everything (characters, background and scenery) was made of plasticine!
