The Female Norns of Albia

The oldest female in Creatures 1 was Eydis, who still acted like a happy child! Female White Haired Pixie Norns are the best when it comes to aging: An elder only has a few tell-tale wrinkles on her face. I usually miss the transition, but it was clear that Eydis was still filled with youth. She struck a pose as if to peek around the nonexistent column that had eroded with time. Perhaps she even wanted to make a statement about how long she planned to live her life in Albia. The firstborn Norn is often quite special, yet it is inevitable that he or she is one of the first to die. Fortunately, Eydis simply loves life! I hoped she would last quite a bit longer.

Even though Signe was the third Norn born into the world, she was also the first to become an elder. There is another gene in C1 that makes a Norn age faster due to stress. In essence, stress and adrenaline can be very detrimental to a Norn’s fertility and lifespan. Signe might very well have been affected by her genetic mutations more than originally imagined. Dagny certainly was surprised when she caught a glimpse of Signe! I guess anyone would be shocked to learn what they will look like in old age. Conversely, I was happy to know that Signe could look at Dagny and remember what she looked like earlier in life. Life is so short.

I snapped out of my philosophical thoughts when I noticed Ingelill with a very mischievous look on her face. She had already earned the title of the best eater, and her independence was a breath of fresh air for me. Apparently she decided that her eating skills would be best put to the test with a deathcap mushroom feast. Ingelill was smart enough to polish off an entire honeypot before I had to intervene: Quite the intelligent creature! Still, I wondered what the fascination was with this very dangerous plant. Was its colorful appearance too much to resist? It certainly did its job of deceiving and injuring!

At nearly three hours old and with no eggs of her own, I wondered if Kari would ever become pregnant. She avoided the males most of the time, and preferred to keep to herself. Truett was still in the same state of mind, and I wondered if it was a characteristic of the Purple Mountain Norn. Fortunately, Kari got together with Valborg in the peaceful garden. Immediately afterwards, though, she rushed off in the opposite direction! It might take a little more work, but I have a feeling that she will end up laying at least another egg or two in her lifetime. That is, if she really wants to.

Never fear about Bera! Although I missed out on any nice photo opportunities with her, she was hard at work traveling around the world. Ingelill also became pregnant shortly after Kari, courtesy of the very fertile Folkvar. There were at least thirty minutes of no pregnancies, and then two pregnancies occurred within a few minutes of one another. The Norns plan these things out: I know it!
