Seven Generations of Creatures Docking Station Norns
Written onAs promised, I am pleased to present the next alpha couple succession test video! I made this generation work a little harder by placing them on two different levels of the Biodome. Navigating via the elevines was a newly added condition… Though their use was a little more interesting! Feel free to look at the Creatures 3 Family Tree to see the pattern in past alpha couples. Grab a snack, and enjoy this latest Creatures video!
A Seventh Generation of Norns in Creatures Docking Station

I was hoping either Harpis or Quadra would become the alpha female, and I’m pleased that came true. I’d rather not see this population become homogenized in terms of appearance, since it’s being documented and all.
I kinda laughed at the ending; looks like the lucky one saw that she had competition and decided she had better hurry up.
It was funny to see them all zipping up and down the elevines – in that way, the extra levels acted as a good distractor for those who love lifts overmuch…. You know those kind of norns…. ;) Is the new alpha female one of the older female norns, or one of the younger – does the pattern hold up?
If anyone would like to get the Dummy Portal (sepia-tinted portal object at the foot of the tree), you can download it here: http://creaturescaves.com/downloads.php?section=COBs&view=658
Grendel Man: I thought Quadra would be the lucky one, since she was more prone to exploring than most of the others. Harpis kind of surprised me, since she had to travel pretty far! I hope she passes along lots of her spots to her sons! She certainly picked up the pace at the end when she saw the other female getting closer. Good thing she acted quickly!
Malkin: That’s a good point about the elevines. Those who used them too much were kind of excluded from the race. The new alpha female doesn’t hold with the pattern. She was the fifth to be introduced to the population, though with the death of one, she was the fourth oldest of the group.
I also made a slight mistake in reporting that the alpha male has always been the youngest or second youngest: We’ve also had some cases of the third youngest male becoming the alpha. This pattern still holds true, though. It’s like the older males are so set in their ways that they can’t be bothered with trivial things like breeding! Ha ha!
Thanks for posting the link for the Dummy Portal! I always forget to mention something, though I try my hardest to include links to most of the objects featured. These Norns haven’t used it much at all, but I think it’s because they’re not plagued with crowdedness just yet.
Do you know if she was significantly younger than previous alpha females when she became the alpha female, or am I taking things too seriously again?
I think the younger alpha male phenomenon is due to the FORF lobe and improved memory of the CFE brain – older males have stronger social bonds with other males – a brotherhood, if you like – and so they’re more used to each others’ company. Younger males have weaker social bonds with other males and so are more open to the company of others.
It’s a great question, Malkin! Unfortunately, I really haven’t been paying much attention to the actual age of the alpha females. Harpis was somewhat older, though, since the last couple of females hatched much later. I wish I had actual data to look back on… Figures that this would be an interesting phenomenon and I wouldn’t have an important piece of information!
Sounds like that’s exactly what’s going on with the males! I wonder if it might not be a bad idea to start keeping a few of the other males around. Is there a way to ensure that they’ll stay infertile in this world, but still have the opportunity reproduce in another world? Or, if there’s a way to keep them infertile forever, I might keep them around to help raise the new males. That might make the alpha male feel a little more comfortable in his world! The past couple of generations have resulted in limited interactions with the alpha male and the other females… I’ve “cheated” a few times by bringing them closer together.
Did my eyes deceive me or did the Alphas have triplets?
(You’ve added so much while I was away! Now I’m going to have to go back an read all that I missed……it’s only like a years worth of posts!!)
Yes, indeed! Triplets it is for the alpha couple. However, I have updated the pregnancy numbers in this world to make multiple births rather common. If you’re interested in the codes, I’ve included them in a post about CAOS Commands. I can’t wait to hatch the little ones!
Glad to hear you’re back! I do tend to write a lot… I apologize ahead of time for everything you’ll be going through! Hopefully it’s more fun and entertaining than tedious! Although I do tend to go on and on on and on. Ha ha!
Oh, this is a great outcome for the next Alpha. I hope there are lots of interesting babies with Harpis’ spots and dots to decorate them.
It would be nice to see some Norns from Quadra and that other female with the Bruin Norn body. Guess I’ll have to keep reading to find out. Good luck, everyone~!
I think you’ll be happy when you see the next update about this world! Suffice to say that we ended up with plenty of spots and dots, luckily! I hope that this generation will produce a few more Norns with different appearances. So far, so good! Thanks for commenting and keeping up with everything, SpringRain!
What an interesting pattern in terms of the alpha male and female. I’m going to have to run a scenario like this one and see if any patterns develop.
Go for it, Bizarra! I’m going to be posting a guide listing all of the rules I use for this world scenario, which should make it easy to follow along and/or make adjustments to enjoy it even more. These patterns have been quite interesting thus far!
Yes! All hail Harpis and Newbeau!
