Naptime for a Friendly Grendel
Written onDvalin was thoroughly enjoying himself in the world of Albia! He was the center of attention, according to Freya, and had all the carrots and honey he could ever want. It is very easy to persuade a hungry Norn or Grendel to take a bite out of the nearest piece of food. Getting them to settle down for a nap is quite a different animal! When Dvalin decided to head off on his own for a much needed rest, I was very happy to see him taking care of himself. Such an intelligent and handsome guy! Sleep is something a Grendel can only learn by doing, and there is no way to directly teach the behavior. Dvalin was learning all on his own!
After another romp around the garden, Dvalin found an even cozier place for his second nap. He looked so cute as he gently snored in a peaceful way near the crackling fire. Grendels are far from the typical monsters they are made out to be! Dvalin proved that point many times. I wonder if a Creatures 1 world solely for Grendels would be a good project for the future. Imagine how cute all the baby Grendels would be!
C1 grendels really are very unscary – I mean, c’mon, they’re smaller than adult norns! C2 grendels as well, for that matter – they just look very calm.
Dvalin is very cute in front of the fire. :) (His name makes me think of The Hobbit.)
I agree, Tarlia! All that false advertising to make Grendels seem scary worked for a time, but I think we’ve all come to like these green beings! I never did think about their size, but now that you point it out, the C1 Grendels are quite tiny in comparison to full-grown Norns. I wonder if some Grendels are more afraid of Norns, rather than the other way around!
Dvalin’s name is also based on Norse mythology, and I believe that some names from The Hobbit are based on the same concept. My name list includes many names that appear in the Lord of the Rings movies! I loved when he snoozed off near the warmth: Probably the best place for a nap!
If you do go along with the idea of a Grendel world, you might want to download the Grendel Family, not sure where to find it though. :P
Thanks, Darren! No luck so far, although I did find this interesting site:
Norn and Grendel Paradise
It looks like the Grendel Family is listed at Muppet Boy’s Geatville, but not available for download. Don the AmberShee is listed as the creator… Would this happen to be the same Don still active in the community? I shall investigate further!
Well according to Creatures wiki the Grendel Family is available on AmberCreatuers, but I all I can see of it there is a listing in a breed list.
Perhaps I already have the Grendel Family: I downloaded the updated Grendel sprites for all life stages, as well as for females. Perhaps I’m missing something else, though? Come to think of it, I might not have installed the new sprites, since Dvalin has remained the same throughout his life. Time for a little investigating!
The two Dons are the same person(people).
Thanks for clarifying that information, Pirate-Rob!
