So, today I realized my bugged / unsuccessful runs sometimes produce a bunch of Norns, Ettins, or Grendels that I won't be able to take care of anymore for various reasons and who'll likely either be deleted, forever remain as merely files, or otherwise don't have a future within my saves and now that I have a setup where I can actually import/export Creatures from within all of my games, I wonder...

... Should we have an 'up for adoption' topic/subforum? Or is that best left to Creatures Caves and CreatureLink? I know not many people play with enough abandon to produce a lot of leftover Norns, Ettins or Grendels anymore, but still.

I'm an admin at The Creature Repository, if it helps.

I ended up discovering the Creature Repository four days after that post thanks to you linking these two 252 Norns in my breed's topic.
I guess part of the issue with being a rookie is I still don't know the best way for certain things to be done in the community;
Once I have some time to gather up my 'orphaned' Norns/Grendels/Ettins I'll upload them there I guess.

We can certainly look into having an adoption section here! My only concerns are with the fact that this then involves sharing e-mail addresses and sending files all over the place. I'm open to it, although it sounds like TCR might work out the best. Let me know if it seems like we really could use an adoption section here, though. I prefer teaming up with other sites (like TCR) so everyone has a unique niche in the community... Yet it's not like adoptions in and of themselves are a really unique concept: Everyone likes them and usually uses them at some point!

Things that are currently on my list to explore and/or work on:
  • Create standard buttons to post on other sites and link back to the Discover Albia Forum.
  • Find a place to include an "Away" topic so people can take breaks without worrying about disappearing.
It's been some time, so please let me know if there is anything else that I mentioned before and may have forgotten. As always, keep those ideas and suggestions coming!

I think a topic for informing others when someone posts adoptions to TCR would be enough, in this case. Last time I just went ahead and uploaded them to the same googledrive I use for all my creatures-related stuff, but while TCR probably isn't checked as often as it used to be at least a lot of people will have access to it and you can see how many downloads the creature in question had. Plus, if someone wishes to comment on your creature they can do it in the same topic.

Throwing in my vote for TCR; it's already got a very nice system in place and IMO can always use a little more exposure/attention! But I think a thread showing off our latest submissions would be a nice addition to this forum.

I try and check the queue on a regular basis, but if someone mentions on the forums that they've submitted a few to TCR, I prioritise checking!!! :lol:

I've found that having a link to my TCR creatures in my forum signature helps publicise them among the community.
