Determining the Alpha Female Norn in C3/DS
Written onHave a look at the second part of the introduction to the C3/DS world concept I’ve been working on! The main feature of this video is the determination of the alpha female. Again, every female will have the opportunity to breed, but only the alpha female will be able to have more than one litter. I will follow up with some more details at a later date: Wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise! I would greatly appreciate any comments on whether these types of videos would be fun to watch. I might turn this into a weekly series and capture at least half of the action in real-time videos. Thanks again to all who have taken the time to watch and comment!
C3/DS World Concept: Part II

Seyon: Female Magma Norn (Yellow Bell)
Aurianna: Female Bengal Norn (Red Spiral)
Nevorria: Female Siamese Norn (White Star)
Brenlee: Male Zebra Norn (Blue Sword)

Yay! She was my second pick for alpha female simply because i’m a cat lover!
As I watched this video I quickly became aware that it may become rather boring if you were to continue to do only videos for your whole blog and never any text from now on. It may become boring to just sit and watch the norns walk around like on LNA even though some of your comments are a little humorous.
THIS particular video however was one I found very interesting because it was an intense race that decided the outcome of the lives of all the norns! I felt like the longer we waited for something to happen (that could happen quickly!) the more intense it felt. So for me it definitely was not a bad long wait.
I think videos are very good for instruction or tutorials, or intense little bouts like this one was. Perhaps, for example if you were to take videos showing a short, intense IQ test for your norns, or a race like this one was for a certain outcome.. Then videos like this are perfect. I really enjoy them!
And how did the magma get on top of the temple? ??:o?? How did you get up there little norn?
That just gave me an idea, also maybe you could take a video like this and post it of any norns that have highly unusual behaviors or issues because it might be interesting to see them, just to show people what it looks like. For example if I had the ability like you do, I may have recorded a video showing how Fiken always reacted to feeling pain when bored because you couldn’t see how she winced every few seconds with a hurt norn sound, which might have been informative.
Anyways, sorry for the long post, I just had a lot to share about this! I hope it was all helpful in some way. I did have a little laugh at some of your comments like when you found the magma norn on the temple. Also, sorry I have a terrible time remembering the norns names, I think in pictures and there is no visual imagery for the names (same with my norns). Maybe after hearing them a while eventually i’ll get the hang of remembering them. I can barely remember the names of my own norns!
Thanks so much for your comments, Kittie! They will be very helpful to me: I appreciate you taking the time to write everything! No worries: Videos will be a supplement for Discover Albia. I actually have the second part of the latest case study in the works… It’s quite the long post! I agree that these videos will be best for interesting scenes and tutorials. One of the two eggs has a very interesting mutation that will either have no effect, or be devastating, depending on the gender of the baby. I’ll probably have a normal blog entry about his or her genetics, as well as a few updates from around the world. Once there are a couple of males from the alpha female, I hope to run through my alternate IQ test and see how it goes.
No idea what happened with the odd glitch at the temple! I had to control myself from laughing too hard when I saw that! Let me know if I can help you get into making Creatures videos… Might be possible, and I know I would love to take a look at your world in real-time.
I’ll add some references to the names, appearances, and marks of the various Norns. I have trouble keeping track, too: You’re not alone! I’ve made a couple of blunders with my C1 Norns already.
Thanks again, Kittie! I really appreciate it, and I’m glad you enjoyed this short series of videos!
While making a video does sound interesting and fun to me, I’m afraid it wouldn’t sound nearly as professional or polished as yours do. You almost sound like you’ve rehearsed everything already.
While I do tend to talk to my norns (computer screen) very often, i’m afraid my videos would probly end up being more like:
“And here we have a norn I wanted to show you who.. What…
why are you doing that?
What are you doing??
Stop it! *slap*
Stop! ..I said stop it!”
Or there would be a lot of:
“Let go.. I said let go!
Gimmie that!”
Eesh.. my editing skills would have to be greater than my video or tutorial skills.
Love this video; you do such a nice job narrating! I’ll admit to cracking up more than a few times throughout :>
I am glad our now-alpha female was rewarded for her persistence early on during the meetings! I can’t wait to see what develops from this.
Kittie: Thanks again for the kind words! I had things worked out for the first couple of minutes with the first part of this video, and then I kind of let everything happen. I was ready to yell at some of them a few times… Brenlee and his Blue Intelligence Core, and everyone eating everything up. Surprisingly, there was very little slapping! If you ever would like to try a video test run, I’d be happy to give you a couple of tips!
Amaikokonut: Thank you! I realize my humor is mostly corny, but I’m glad it had you laughing a couple of times! Persistence certainly paid off, and I was happy the way things turned out. Siamese/Zebra crosses are actually a pretty nice mix. Expect a few regular blog entries about some things I’ve thought of along the way, along with a couple of suggestions I’ve had. And there’s an interesting genetics discussion about one of the eggs… I was really excited when I actually understood the mutation! C1 genes are quite different and less complicated than many of the C3/DS genes. Thanks again for your interest!
Brenlee, WAKE UP! My goodness that Norn likes to sleep. I’m sure he’ll make an exceptional Alpha :P
Cracked up big time with Seyon on the Temple. I know there used to be a couple of holes in C2toDS, maybe the same thing happened here. Very strange though.
@Kittie: I’d totally watch a video of someone yelling at their Norns. Is bound to make me laugh :D
Brenlee was sleeping on the job, I guess! Part of it may have come from the lull of the ticking clock, and perhaps he had no idea what to do with himself around the other Norns. I have no idea how Seyon possibly got herself stuck up there: Must have been a hole or something! Glad you laughed: I sure did!
Could it be that the door on that side of the temple is a little too short so instead of going thru the temple, she ended up going on top of the temple? I’ve had a lot of my norns end up on top of the temple like that.
Hmm, that sounds like a likely explanation, Mea! I’ll have to keep an eye out to see if it happens again soon. I’m hoping it was a one-time thing, although it was pretty funny! Just need to make sure I don’t leave Norns completely alone: It would be horrible to get stuck up there for a long time and starve to death.
Yes! They shall make such cute litters! :D
If you wanted to promote travel, maybe you should drop off the male in a different location than the females?
Glad to hear I’m not the only one looking at the Norns (having told themselves not to get involved) and trying to see if they might just hear their instructions. Though mine generally go “That thing in your hand is a Seed. It is Food. Eat it you nit! Oh, no, go ahead and starve to death. You’re at 4% health, you know…” and so on and so forth ;)
