A Forgotten Egg and a Whole Lot of Unforgettable Eggs
Written onI was extremely surprised by another birth announcement shortly after entering my world in Creatures 3/Docking Station. Naturally, I had forgotten about an egg which patiently waited to hatch in the canopy. Ulissa is the daughter of Topin and Davira: She was another spitting image of her mother, although her fate was to be exported. I was confident that she was the only unplanned birth… I had more than enough eggs to sort through, thanks to Topin’s escapades! Never assume a Norn will live a slow, friendless life.
Elania had the monumental task of delivering four eggs, and I couldn’t help but wonder if she was trying to send a message with her proximity to the beach ball. Fortunately, she made it through like a pro, and was easily retired from her duties in this world. That left one egg from Davira, two eggs from Poplis, and four eggs from Elania to hatch. My need to document everyone’s birth meant that I was going to be one busy camper! Left to hatch on their own, I figured that the newly hatched babies would drive me crazy… Try keeping half a dozen Norns in one area!
My task was enormous as it was, so Topin decided that this was an excellent moment to make it even more difficult for me! I actually was not too upset, because Xeeril was the last Norn to have a Siamese Norn head. The next generation needed all the diversity it could get, so my hopes were high that at least one of her two eggs would hold a Siamese female. Even her tail was pretty unique among all the Bengal Norn tails! Funny how the Zebra Norn characteristics have turned out to be very dominant, even though it’s all up to chance. Strange coincidence, indeed.
Topin and Davira’s most recent egg finally hatched, and I was lucky enough to find another male to add to his hoard of brothers! Pay no attention to the uncomfortable look on his face: Valcon decided that he wanted to try to fly, and repeatedly fell from the different levels of the canopy above Veridia. I thought the first free fall would have been enough for him, but he was just too curious! He was back to being happy and pain free in no time, although I could just imagine him trying this stunt again later in life!
i’m still cheering Simteo on but valcon has that shifty look that makes me think he might just become the next alpha and surprise everyone.
He very well may do that! It seems like the younger ones sometimes have an advantage: The elder males seem to be a little more mature, while those who just reach the youth stage at the beginning of the alpha couple determination seem much more interested in the females! We’ll see what happens with Valcon… He was more of an accidental addition, since I was happy with the number of males already. You never know with these Norns!
