Extras in CV [CV]

Okay, Creatures Village is clearly geared towards a younger audience, but I took the opportunity to poke through the CV folders. There were a couple of interesting ones, but I found one in particular to be quite intriguing: Exported Creatures.

Anyone know of a way to export these little guys? Or incorporate any of the more advanced Creature Kits?

Creatures Village is something I enjoy picking up every now and then, too. I never knew about the folders, but then again, I haven't dug too deep in regards to the game! There may be some useful information for you in the following links. I'm sure someone else knows a bit more, particularly about exported Creatures, and hopefully you'll have everything you're looking for soon!

It looks like there aren't a lot of add-ons for Creatures Village, although I imagine there are more than I've listed. Good luck!

I wonder if Masha's Bulk Exporter code for C3/DS would be workable on CV?

I messed around a little with CV and CAOS at some point; It's especially frustrating because there's no JECT command so in order to get a cosfile to take effect you have to start an entirely new world. That said, it is possible to re-implement the CAOS command line and yes, there is a function to export creatures, but I never went so far as bothering to find a way to reimport them again.

I put out a cosfile with some keyboard shortcuts and the (pretty useless) export function; it's the last link on this post if you're interested. I guess if nothing else exporting is a good way to get rid of a creature in CV!

Well, my idea was to export a norn or two and import them into C2 or C3/DS for a visit.

That said, I don't know if it's even possible. For example, in CV, the norns don't have a language and "communicate" via pictographs; my hope is that this is merely a simplification created by the executable itself and not some "dumbing down" of the norns themselves.

I do hope it works, though.. controlling the Hand is agonizingly imprecise in CV, and my attempts to explore the world are met with multiple "come hither" gestures that confuse my norns and frustrate me to no end!

I wish it were possible to get a CAOS command line in CV - ages back Amai reckoned it was possible by copying over the DS one and commenting out the 'game' calls, but because it's not offered up for download, I'm not sure as to whether I should proceed or not.

Wow, that really was ages ago!

It did work though! Though it wasn't rigorously tested or anything so try at your own risk. I believe this was the file originally attached to that post, or at least very similar. It might also contain an older version of the CV shortcuts than the one posted on the blog though so just be aware of that.

The first thing you'll want to do if you get it running though is output the caos documentation (the old 'file oope 1 "CAOS categorical.html" 0 dbg: html 1 file oclo' still works) because there's quite a bit missing/changed compared to C3/DS (as I mentioned the lack of JECT is the worst offender IMO)
