New Ideas for Discover Albia
I’ve been thinking of ways to make Discover Albia more interactive and interesting for everyone to take part in. One idea I had was to have wolfing run contests with specific goals. Some examples may be reaching a certain generation or breeding a natural color mutation. I wanted to get some feedback on whether or not anyone would participate, though, and what would make these contests more interesting.
Alternatively, if you have any ideas for interactive elements that you would like to see, please feel free to comment! I would love to have some more unique aspects about Discover Albia so that visits aren’t always geared towards reading about what happens in my Creatures 1 world. I really appreciate everyone who takes the time to check out the updates on a daily basis: Your comments and feedback have been very positive!
I also wanted to quickly note that updates will be sparse this weekend, but should return to usual at the beginning of next week. Any thoughts about new ideas are most appreciated! Thanks a lot!
Perhaps you can do posts about Creature care? I think explaining means by which to teach Creatures, the best way to raise them, how to deal with illness and disease, combat eating disorders, etc, would add some unique content.
Furthermore, maybe you could review and endorse some of your favorite Creatures cobs/agents?
Could you please make some sort of family or at least explain a bit more as to who is who’s baby.
Contests would be fun. I’ve never actually been able to participate in one due to scheduling conflicts, business, etc. but I would love to try my hand at one. Would it be C1, C2, or C3/DS or would you plan to do one for each?

Moe, those are some excellent ideas! I recently downloaded software for screen capturing, although I haven’t tested it out yet. If I can figure it out, I might have some video tutorials to go along with your first idea! I would be very interested in reviewing some COBs: I imagine I would start a new world for testing purposes, since I’ve had some issues with crashes in the past. Another great idea!
Pirate-rob, you read my mind! I’m in the process of creating a page that lists my Creatures 1 family, with a focus on genealogy. Keep an eye out for that to be posted this week!
QuackAttack, I plan on having similar contests running at the same time for each version of Creatures, so that no one is left out. I think I would start off with somewhat easy contests/tasks so no one gets scared away! It might evolve into some sort of extended contest, with a different task every few weeks. Points could be calculated based on how many tasks one completes and in what span of time.

I’m in the process of putting together the framework and details for some competitions: Please bear with me at first if they’re a little on the easy side… The challenge for me is making sure that the same goals can be replicated across C1, C2, and C3. I only have Creatures 1 installed at this point, which makes it a little harder! Hopefully it will be well worth it!
