The Next Alpha Male and Female Norns
Another exciting visit to Creatures Docking Station resulted in a long-awaited video! Five females, including the lone Seyon, and six males began their new lives in the C1toD2 meta room. Make sure to enjoy the excitement, frustration, and somewhat chaotic nature of Norn life! I would be happy to continue making videos like this in the future: Comments, opinions, and suggestions are always welcome and encouraged! Enjoy!

Awww yay! I was certainly rooting for the little guy!
I just love these videos, and your narration is so lively and excited that it adds to the intrigue all the more. Can’t wait for the next one!
Congratulations new alphas! I found myself trying to exit fullscreen video mode by pushing the red X in the docking station pull out tray XD I thought it was really amusing how the males stuck to themselves while the females all rushed over to meet them!
Amaikokonut: Thank you so much! After checking over the video a few times for any issues, I wondered just how many times I could say “Oap!” Ha ha! The alpha male was a bit of a surprise to me, but I guess it just goes to show that not following the pack has its advantages.
Kittie: Things played out quite differently than I thought they would! The males and females sure did take some time to warm up to one another. Now comes the fun part of having a mass export, and hatching the eggs!
You can use ‘tab’ to switch between your norns – as long as the norn you’re switching to is in the target metaroom, it’s quicker than paging through all of your rooms. :)
Good luck to the new alpha male and female! :D
That was far more exciting and suspenceful than it should have been :D
Love the video touches though. Might try doing a couple myself in C1 to introduce people to each Norn a little better.
Malkin: I definitely love the “tab” ability, although I wasn’t sure how reliable it might have been in the video. I’ll keep it in mind for the future, though!
ArchDragon: I was quite excited during the whole process! Ha ha! Thanks for the kind words, as well. I would very much love to see any videos you create for C1. I’m planning on trying out a little video of my C1 world soon… We’ll see what happens! Good luck to you!
i started a similar experiment after watching your videos. i really can’t wait until your next video but poor seyon xD is she doomed to never have babies
That’s great to hear, Magpie! I would love to hear more about your experiment: There are a ton of different parameters that can be set in C3/DS, which makes for some very interesting stories. Hopefully things go well for you!
Seyon does seem doomed to stay in that one spot forever… I’m getting more and more tempted to move her, but she just seems so peaceful and content! Maybe I’ll work on enticing her away to see if she’s open to moving around. If not, she might just remain there her entire life!
well so far so good i’ve just started the second generation which took a long time because my alpha male just didn’t want sexy time xD i chose a zebra norn like your first one because i have a weakness for black and white striped things and he ended up taking a zebra female as alpha female so looks-wise there isn’t really a variation but what i found interesting was when he bred with a siamese female she ended up having triplets but only one survived because the other two died shortly after birth which is a shame considering they were all females but at least little bianei survived. i can’t seem to get the genetic kit working so i have no idea if this siamese female has given bianei the same gene to give to her children.
aww i want to see her be a mummy at least once it was heartbreaking just seeing her lay there xD
I had the same problem with Brenlee: He had no idea what to do with the females when he first met them! Sounds like Zebra Norns have taken over your world, but I rather like their appearance. It’s also nice how males and females are nicely differentiated. I’m not sure why the Genetics Kit won’t work for you: Were you able to download and install it? If you’re running Creatures Exodus, make sure you have the Creatures Remastered Patch. This might be part of the issue.
I also highly recommend Gene Compare, which quickly shows you any differences in genes, and can be great in spotting mutations. If I knew more about C3/DS genetics, I would absolutely love it! As it is, I find it useful in just figuring out how many mutations there are, and the general idea of what’s going on.
i’m not sure i think its because this machine runs windows 7 and everyone online is having problems with the creatures series on here and having the same problem with gene compare as well i found it earlier when i was searching for a way around the genetics kit and nothing seems to want to work. it just says run time error. its not much of a test without knowing things like the genes and such but i’m continuing eitherway. i just had a female banana norn lay 5 eggs straight after have three.
or you know just found out she is about to have three more
That’s a lot of eggs for one Norn! For Gene Compare and the Genetics Kit, have you tried running either as an administrator? I’m not the best when it comes to troubleshooting, but I remember that this could be a possible solution. It’s a shame you can’t take a look at the genetics, yet C3/DS offers a whole lot of excitement during gameplay! I still prefer my simple C1 genetics… Not too crazy, thank goodness! Ha ha!
i haven’t hatched any of her eggs yet but she sadly died yesterday but not before i counted up all her eggs because i’ve kept them in my inventory but all together she laid 23 eggs. 19 to another banana norn and 4 to a treehugger
i managed to get gene compare to work :D it just started working this morning so i’m gonna try the genetics kit again in a minute
That’s a whole lot of eggs! It’s sad that she passed away without meeting any of her children, but that’s how I usually play to split apart the generations. Seems like she lived a pretty full life, although carrying all of those eggs must have been a bit grueling!
I’m glad to hear that Gene Compare started working! It’s an excellent program, and can often help point you in the right direction better than the Genetics Kit on its own. Together, they’re probably the two best programs for understanding Creatures genetics. Good luck!
Good you put the males a bit away from the females.
Now for the movement about: why didn’t you use the first tab and select the males there? I know they’re not specifically marked as males there, but if you know their names, that might have worked.
Alternatively: ctrl+i puts whatever is in the Hand in the Inventory. I know it works for Eggs, not sure about Norns. Then you just do ctrl-leftarrow (or ctrl-rightarrow) with a quick right-click to drop the males, and get them all in the same area.
I’m going to have to test that now. (And I’m getting more and more tempted to do something similar with C22DS, Docking Station and [if I can find the disk in my apartment] the Norn area of C3 as well. If I do, though, I will likely write it up as a FanFic on FanFiction.net since I don’t have a Blog.)
Seems the Alpha Test is now “First male to get a female pregnant, so long as she doesn’t die.” Might tweak that rule in my run, especially if you can put Norns into the inventory, since that’ll be a quick thing when tabbing through the groups and taking the extras to the side ;)
I’ve since made some improvements to the transportation of Norns in the videos. Remember, this video is nearly a year old at this point! Creatures can only be added to the inventory with the Norn to Inventory tool. I haven’t installed this, though it may be of interest to you!
You’re also more than welcome to work off of any of these ideas! I wanted to share my world concept, but hoped that others would create their own concepts based off of it. As I mentioned long ago, how I play and the things I enjoy about Creatures are only my own opinions: The wonderful thing about Creatures is how everyone can enjoy it in their own way. Good luck!
