Back to the Future of Creatures

It was quite some time since my last visit to Creatures 1, and no one was more excited than Skuld the Grendel! Granted, the delicious honey was probably the main reason behind her happiness, yet she wasted no time in flashing me a toothy grin. She certainly had made her way around Albia, although the desert island was, once again, the hangout spot of choice. It was absolutely wonderful to see such a happy creature again, and I left Skuld to have a little reunion with my Norns.

Mevik promptly fell asleep at my entrance, which was just as well. Being stuck in an endless form of virtual stasis would have bored anyone to tears! I had actually planned another update, but alas, a power failure wiped out the lovely screen captures before they could be saved. The one piece of major news was how Stokka experienced her first pregnancy, courtesy of Oppeid. Even with his monopoly over the females in question, Mevik leisurely remained on the desert island without a care in the world. I still had yet to see him with a frown on his handsome little face for more than a minute or two. Perhaps this mysterious state of endless happiness would be passed along to his children: I prefer a happy Norn to a sad Norn on any day!

Clearly, Mevik was not in need of additional company: He had his hands full with Nordmela, Ramsvika, and Pettvika! Indeed, there was no question that another little one would be on the way. The mystery centered around who the lucky female would be. I shall uphold the suspense for a short time: Who do you believe is the pregnant Norn? With enough time with Mevik, perhaps all of these ladies would find themselves with eggs!

In the less tropical region of the world, Oppeid found a wonderful place to rest. He was definitely getting older, but thankfully, the baldness of the Purple Mountain Norn had not attacked him quite yet! I was thrilled to see a Norn actually sleeping on his own: It might seem silly to celebrate such a small accomplishment, yet anyone who plays Creatures knows just how difficult this feat can be. Perhaps Oppeid would be smart enough to take frequent naps, and keep his fertility level relatively high. Then again, this was Creatures. That was a very distant hope!

Stokka found herself in the dark, damp basement of the temple shortly after she laid her egg. Nothing could bring down her mood, though! She seemed more than excited about her first egg, and had even gone as far as sleeping and eating all on her own. An independent Norn?! Surely, my dreams had come true. Ha ha! When I first began playing Creatures 1, the look of the Forest Norns sort of turned me away from them. Over time, though, I’ve grown fond of their slightly unrefined appearances. Stokka knew just how to show off her lovely colors and gigantic smile. Her teeny tiny nose was the icing on the cake: All Norns have small noses, but Stokka’s was simply irresistible.

Last, but not least, I found an older Ure roaming around the garden. I felt guilty for not having him around during the holidays, yet he did not seem to mind all that much. There were still five more eggs from his Santa Norn mother, Nordis, to hatch. Christmas would just have to take place a little later in Albia! However, my short amount of playtime convinced me to get back into Creatures much more. Expect additional updates about various topics in the near future! Above all else, make sure to keep the community alive in the new year!
