Journey to the Center of Albia
Korgen decided that it was in his best interest to travel underground and journey to a place that no other Norn of his group had visited before. In his excitement, he tried many times to urge the cart onwards faster! Hopefully he learned an important lesson in patience… Although I had a feeling he learned nothing. Ha! Korgen enjoyed the exploration of the settlement, yet without his friends, all seemed quite boring. It wasn’t long before he was back on the cart and urging it in the opposite direction as quickly as it could go! At least I found out that he was not afraid to explore, although a companion would have been nice.
Shortly after returning, Korgen met up with Junkerdal. It was only a matter of time before she found herself waiting to lay an egg. She was quite an excellent and independent eater, as evidenced in this photo. Junkerdal also enjoyed clearing the garden of all edible matter. Her voracious appetite kept her in excellent health during her pregnancy, although the others looked a little perplexed about the food situation. Never question a pregnant Norn! Junkerdal wanted to ensure she stayed healthy, and she accomplished just that. Her pregnancy sped along, and a little egg was to arrive very shortly.
Hopen, on the other hand, went through a very tough pregnancy. The isolation on the island probably didn’t help, although I stayed with her as much as possible. Even though she had become pregnant a good ten or fifteen minutes before Junkerdal, she laid her egg less than a minute before the other Norn. The egg can barely be glimpsed behind Hopen in this photo, but it had arrived! The exhausted Norn took a few seconds to collect herself, then she promptly collapsed into a well needed slumber. Hopefully any other pregnancies will progress much more quickly for Hopen! Creatures 1 pregnancies vary greatly, yet Hopen had her fair share of suffering for the good of the future.
Alfhild, the Grendel, had made her place with the Norns. She particularly took a liking to Inndyr and Junkerdal: With the latter going through a pregnancy, Alfhild latched onto Inndyr for company. The kisspopped a few times, to the point that the Grendel fell asleep standing up! At least she looked very peaceful. She soon awoke, much refreshed and quite hungry. Most Creatures 1 Grendels are naturally good eaters, and Alfhild was no exception. When no Norn would listen, she almost always stopped whatever she was up to in order to eat something. Why could she not teach this excellent behavior to the Norns?!
To commemorate their friendship, Junkerdal left her egg in the care of Alfhild while she attended to her wandering spirit. Alfhild was thrilled to have been left in charge: Things were even better when she spotted a full honeypot! I had to make sure that the white and purple spotted egg was not a Grendel-Norn cross, since she stayed near it like a protective mother. Lore has it that Norn eggs are impossible to break open because their shells are designed to repel Grendel attacks. I was pretty sure Alfhild was less of a threat than the majority of Norns.
Albia was very peaceful and quiet for some time. Both of the females had to recover from their pregnancies, which gave everyone a nice breather. It was amazing to see that two hours had passed so quickly, though most might think that a short period of time! I sometimes feel tempted to leave Creatures 1 running in the background to finish the second generation more quickly. We all know that’s impossible with my level of involvement in their lives! It’s the little moments that make them so memorable.

Korgen got his wish of not one, but two traveling buddies! Hopen and Inndyr joined him on the underground cart, and they spent a little time near the still and shower. Amazingly, no one actually had any hootch, although Inndyr did pick up a can at one point. Everyone decided that their known territory was preferable, and the cart brought back the adventurers. Along the way, poor Hopen was still recovering from her pregnancy, yet there were kisspops left and right! When they returned to the temple, Hopen waited for the two males to move away before she quickly jumped aboard the cart, alone. Korgen said it perfectly! It also looked like he was just starting to fall asleep, too: A small “z” can be seen above his open eye in the photo.

Haha, you managed to catch a Norn snoring with his eyes open. Sounds like my dad when he claims to be watching the TV!
It’s interesting how the female Grendels seem to kisspop while the males don’t. I wonder if it has something to do with testosterone levels in the males?
I think the reason for Grendels being better eaters has more to do with their genetic disposition to listen to the Hand more closely. For memory it has something to do with an inability to choose not to listen, which from a free will perspective is likely a disadvantage.
The testosterone levels could have something to do with the male Grendels. Perhaps you’ll have some luck finding out before me! I believe you’re right about the genetic difference in Grendels: Their instincts are quite different, and I vaguely recall seeing something that would explain their better listening skills. There’s definitely a balance between obedience and free will: Seems like free will wins out at just the wrong moments, though. Ha ha!
