Creatures 4 Video from Gamescom 2012
Today, the first video of Creatures 4 at Gamescom 2012 surfaced! This gave us a much closer look at the game, compared with what we saw last year. The in-game text from the video is in German, although I attempted to do a little translating. The camera angle made it difficult to read some of the text, but the big news is that we actually have something to watch in regards to Creatures 4! Thanks to Nexplay.de for sharing this video! Note that Creatures 4 was renamed Creatures Online in 2013.

The brief pop up featuring the giant Shee mentions how this Norn looks different from any Norn from Albia. “For example, the tail is missing!” Tails have been a very controversial subject! There is a final sentence which states something about the newborn, though I was unable to decipher it completely.

The first steps mention how baby Norns require good care on Sphericus. We previously had heard news that Creatures 4 would, indeed, take place on Sphericus, but here is another piece of clear evidence!

For a very brief moment above the object the Norn is floating above, it shows that this is a Norn Blower. It also says that the usage count is 20/20. Does this mean that there will be a limited number of times an item will be able to be used? The ball appears to have the same type of counter, though this is set at 1,000/1,000.

A science kit! Oxygen, hunger, sleepiness, fear, boredom, and anger appear to be the main chemicals that may be graphed. When hunger is chosen, the two buttons on the far right seem to be labels for decreasing certain types of hunger. It’s unclear whether these are injections or simple labels, but at least there are clear differentiations between hunger for carbohydrate, fat, and protein. These Norns need a varied diet!

Oh wow, they’re actually moving in 3D! I thought they’d be build in 3D, but only move in a 2D plane. Very cool.
Also, finally I saw a speech bubble! Been worried for months they wouldn’t be able to speak. So happy to see that.
I don’t know, what to think about C4.
Of course it’s great, that there will be a new game, but it’s missing so many things, I liked about the older games…
ArchDragon: I’m excited about the movement and speech bubbles, too! Looks like we’ll be getting some official news next week, so hopefully we’ll have more information about what these features actually do. I’m trying to hold back and not bother them too much while they’re at Gamescom!
Gonzo: This is just a small demo of the entire game, so perhaps there will be other features that we have yet to see. I’m also waiting for official news about the game, where the developers will hopefully explain more about the features we see here, and the features not shown. If this was the only part of Creatures 4, I think I would be pretty disappointed, too! But there are other areas that have been mentioned, such as the tree house we saw last year and in screenshots. Maybe you’ll like it more once we get more information… Or less, although I’m trying to support this as much as possible. Creatures is getting a new lease on life after a decade: I’m hoping to make sure any new players are aware of the earlier titles, and get them involved with Creatures one way or another!
When I heard that the game is on Sphericus, I freaked out lol! Bout time. Anyways, the game itself looks really good so far, and it seems that Fishing Cactus is still keeping it as complex as the originals. I just hope my laptop can run it, seeing how good the graphics are.
It’s looking pretty neat! Seems like Fishing Cactus is trying to find a happy medium between bringing in newer, less experienced players and pleasing the more advanced, long-time Creatures players. More information should be out this week: I can’t wait to learn more about it!
Your theory about items being limited-use seems like it would make sense with the free-to-play aspects of Creatures 4 – it reminds me a little of the C1 COB injector having X injections allowed of COBs. :) Andrea Di Stefano has mentioned norns that repair machinery on the Fishing Cactus blog, though I’m not sure if this has been ditched entirely along with ‘Stats’ – hopefully creatures might be able to repair their toys?
Hi im Lisha777 from Creatures caves :)
I havnt watched the new demo yet but I will soon :D
Creatures 4 is looking great so far!
I cant wait till its out!
And maybe the usage thing for the toys mean how long till it breaks, maybe the creatures will be able to repare them :D
Arrgg… I hope it comes out soon!!
I’m wondering if the nornblower has a none entertainment use. It looks very cute though! Also Master Shee (Forum account) said that norns can be mechanics and fix machines.
This looks awesome – will the full game be released soon? They could go far with this.
There have been several delays, but the current release date is scheduled around March or April of this year! You can find some more information on the Fishing Cactus Blog, while there is also an official Creatures 4 Site complete with a forum and more screenshots. I’m still trying to be cautious about getting too excited, but I hope that Creatures 4 turns out to be a great game!
