Swing Your Partner Round and Round
Written onThere are times when it feels like something is missing from life… And for me, that one thing was Creatures 1! I have been spending time testing out the body data files for the updated Grendel, but my clan of Norns and Grendels has been woefully neglected. I found Coll and Gurgi in the garden, discussing the merits of the ball. Coll was in a silly mood, while Gurgi preferred a more serious conversation: He issued a few stern slaps, although it did little to deter Coll from dancing and running around!
Fflewddur had someone to spend some time with, too! Unfortunately, that someone was actually a something, and it was antigen 5. He moved around uncomfortably during his illness, yet I was happy to see that it came with sleep toxin, which practically knocked him out for a solid five minutes. It might not sound like a lot, but it was an eternity in the land of Albia! I had very little to do, for Fflewddur was quickly back to full health, complete with a normal gait. Which this photo does not illustrate.
My favorite Grendels were having the time of their life on the island! Ellidyr and Achren decided to stay close to one another, yet they spared me an unexpected pregnancy. I knew they had that trick waiting for me pretty soon, though. I will be so thrilled when I have the updated sprites completely finished: Seeing these C1 Grendels move around so well is a wonderful sight to see! Even if no one else enjoys the changes, I know I’ll be one happy Grendel keeper! And the Grendels will likely be much happier. too.
Doli and Dwyvach paired up on the docks, and it was a pleasant sight to see two very happy Norns together. I hoped that there would be a little egg to look forward to, but it was not meant to be. Doli was rather upset, though he had little to complain about… After all, he had two eggs in waiting, and another waiting to be laid! Dwyvach was in an odd position, where it almost looked like she was violently startled by the extra pixels floating in front of her. She quickly moved onto more important Norn tasks, like holding the ball in the air and dancing. Classic.
Yet another Norn couple materialized on the desert island! Angharad and Dallben exchanged polite smiles, and attempted to share a pot of honey. In all honesty, though, Norns have a hard time sharing that delicious treat! I still brimmed with pride over how well Angharad had adjusted to the world. Perhaps I focus on her a bit much, but she is a shining example of how bad genetic mutations can be overcome. Some of the Norns with unaltered genes were worse eaters than her! And that smile…
One final order of business was in store for me: Eilonwy’s egg! She struggled with this pregnancy, yet it was the presence of Doli and Dwyvach who mostly just distracted her from eating and sleeping. Peace and quiet? I think not! Luckily, Eilonwy was able to lay her egg in a secluded spot. She promptly passed out from exhaustion after her task was done. This was the sixteenth egg, and this generation still was not fully hatched! I knew I was making slow progress, but I would never want to miss out on these moments from Creatures 1. Sometimes the simple things are the best.
