A New Grendel in Town

Bera took to playing with the ball again like a young Norn for a little while. It’s funny how babies and elders seem to get the most enjoyment out of the toys! Most of the adults ignore the toys for the majority of the time. After traveling up the lift from the temple, Bera spotted Valborg and Ranulf in the distance. Just like that, she passed away at 11 hours and 41 minutes old. She was a wonderful Forest Norn in Creatures 1 who truly enjoyed life. She often had a gigantic smile, and she was one of the more independent creatures. Bera died with six eggs ready to hatch: Her presence will not soon be forgotten. It was nice that her last moments were not spent alone. Rest in peace, Bera.

It took me some time to realize that a new baby Grendel had made his way into Albia. Meet Halvor, pronounced [HAHL-vor], which is a Norse name meaning rock guardian. He posed by the dragon toy, much as Keir had, so that it looked like he had two heads! I was hoping for a female Grendel, but Halvor was yet another adorable Grendel. Once the first generation is complete, I plan on hatching each egg and immediately exporting the resulting Norns. I will be starting a new world, since there is a rather serious glitch with the cart that cut off an important transportation route. I can’t be sure if Halvor will be able to be exported, though.

Ingelill came down with yet another illness: She seemed to be the victim of most bacteria! It was a combination of antigen 2, two different unknown toxins, Histamine A, and Histamine B. Quite nasty! It took some extra effort to keep her life force above 50%, but she recovered quite successfully. I was experimenting with sprite editing, and now Ingelill appears to have some bald spots! Any thoughts on how to fix this? Or is she really just balding? Ha! I imagine it was some sort of error on my part, although thankfully it was something that didn’t completely ruin the game.

Nordis and Kari suddenly took an interest in the toy ball! Halvor was probably due some credit: He brought some much needed youth to the group. I couldn’t get over how tiny and cute he was! Compared to the Norns, he was about half their size. Both of the females enjoyed his company: Many friendly kisses could be heard throughout Albia. It would not be long before the second generation babies hatched and shared their youthful spirit.
