Unbundling Creatures: The Albian Years

The Box Art for Creatures 1 at GOGMost newer operating systems can’t properly run the original Creatures CD versions, which is why it’s wonderful that GOG.com offers all of the Creatures titles! Recently, a slight change was made to the way that Creatures: The Albian Years can be downloaded. They were previously bundled together, but a new change has separated them out. I had the pleasure of utilizing this new system when I reinstalled my game just recently. Although this made very little difference from a Creatures experience, I had a chance to see the newly uploaded box art images. The image for Creatures 1 is unfamiliar to me, although it fits the game perfectly! Note that the two games, C1 and C2, must still be purchased together: This change only affects the way they can be downloaded after purchase.

The Creatures 2 Box Art at GOGCreatures 2 was also given a fresh install, just to be on the safe side. I still have yet to dive into the game, mostly due to the countless reports that it crashes and has many glitches. I’ve only experienced a couple of issues so far, which apparently makes me a lucky one! I do like this change that GOG.com instituted, at least for this game bundle. Sometimes I think new players jump into Creatures 2, thinking that its status as a sequel automatically makes it better. It does have its improvements, yet I feel like this unbundling might give Creatures 1 a little more of a chance to be explored. Creatures Exodus and Creatures Village have, up to this point, not been affected by the unbundling… And that makes sense. Just something to keep an eye out for on GOG.com!
