Letting the Light Shine on the C1 Lemons
Written onThe light has finally returned to Creatures 1! I had to take a short break from my beloved series, courtesy of some lovely frustration around coding the lemons. It seemed like I was fixing one issue, only to break something else. LoneShee kindly provided a bunch of ideas and suggestions, and then a lightbulb finally turned on! I was beyond excited when I could finally pick up one of my updated lemons, as was my test subject! I finally worked out a version that can function properly, although some more testing is certainly needed. Most importantly, there have not been any more crashes! It all boiled down to a misunderstanding on my part regarding some CAOS coding and the images in a sprite file. There’s no doubt that I’m still learning!
My next task will be to work on the placement of the lemon buds via the sprite files. This should be relatively simple, and then they will look like they’re growing out of the correct areas of the lemon trellis. I apologize for disappearing, but these lemons were literally putting me in a sour mood whenever I thought about Creatures! Now that they’re nearing completion, I can finally relax and enjoy the games. Some more videos should be coming soon, but more importantly, the updated Creatures 1 lemons will finally be unveiled! Their fixes are similar to the carrots, and they include a brand new growth cycle. Stay tuned for these not-so-bitter C1 lemons!
