The Unpredictable Nature of Norns
It was only a matter of time before everyone grew up, and most of the young males would be exported. I decided to spend a little time with them, since the females had gotten most of the attention up to this point. The seven sons of Brenlee and Nevorria might have looked very similar, yet there were distinct personalities that began to emerge. Some might question whether Norns are capable of having real personalities. Even if a lot of their actions are based on genetics and instincts, it still seems like each is unique, and most are unpredictable!

The first unpredictable event was a mild sneezing fit that had affected most of the males. Almost everyone had a degree of histamine A present in his system, but only Menrik had a corresponding antigen. No one appeared to be suffering very much, aside from the annoying sneezing fits. It was probably time to shower them with antihistamines, but I wanted the environment to be as natural as possible. There was a degree of “survival of the fittest” in the alpha male succession test. Gontor and Menrik became cautious friends: They stuck with one another, but seemed unwilling to form a very strong bond. Xerman spent some time with them, although he soon headed off to find his other brothers. What I found next was absolutely hilarious.

Why, it’s Hendar and Tinver hanging out in the upper levels of the Norn Terrarium! Wait a minute… Hendar! I did not figure out who started this routine, but one of these brothers would summon the lift, ride it up to the top, walk over the edge, and start right over again! Was there a thrill to falling like this? I was baffled over this behavior, although they really seemed to be enjoying themselves. If my eyes did not deceive me, Hendar and Tinver were the only two brothers who had identical appearances. Hendar was the eldest, while Tinver should have been the youngest, had he not raced out of his egg. No one could have predicted this behavior!
The other brothers were getting along well, although without many exciting stories to tell. Hendar had reached the youth life stage, although it was up to Fewlin and Saedra to determine when everyone would be ready. Plan to watch a video chronicling the next chapter of this story: The part where the alpha couple will be determined. I have a feeling there could be absolute chaos. In the end, though, chaos makes Creatures so interesting!

Hah! Sorry for not having followed for some months, I will comment further when I get to your latest entry. But now I just had to comment since those two norns coming up with that game is absolutely hilarious and winsome!
Glad to have you back, Luci! This was definitely one of the funniest moments in C3/DS so far. It’s a shame that Tinver died so young, but at least Hendar has found a new home via CreatureLink! Maybe I’ll be able to capture another funny game like this sometime. Good luck catching up!
Gah! Spoilers in the comments of older posts?
*sniffles* Poor Tinver…
As for their game, it reminds me of a story I once heard of someone who saw a group of… I want to say Bison, but I’m not 100% certain of that… playing near a frozen section of lake or river. They would move away from it and then rush at the water, skating over the surface with their legs spread out for balance. Then they would make their way back to the shore for another go.
Seems even virtual life is inventive when they want to have fun!
