A Perfect Blend of Norn Breeds
It was no surprise that while my hands were full with looking after newly hatched baby Norns, Jorie decided to meet up with Gontor! Luckily, she was only to have twins. Hopefully both would be females, to carry on her family line to the next generation. I found it very useful to keep Gontor, the alpha male, separated from the females for the time being. Becoming overrun with Norns right from the start can be completely overwhelming. For anyone attempting to use this world concept, or a modification of it, I highly recommend keeping the alpha male separate from time to time, in order to spread out the births. Very few Norns can be accused of being averse to kisspopping!
My first order of business was the four eggs that Saedra had laid. These Norns would have a mixture of Hardman, Zebra, and Siamese Norn genetics. There was no telling what the Norns would look like, but I was quite impressed with the first little guy! I named him Dorin. He was immediately exported, but as I’ve been hinting at, there will be an event in the next couple of weeks featuring Norn adoptions. Dorin will be making an appearance! Too bad he couldn’t stay in this world, but that was part of the world concept.
The next egg hatched to reveal a little female, who soon found her name to be Tolis. Although her Siamese body did not flow as well with the rest of her bright body parts, it was quite refreshing to see such a unique Norn. I stayed away from the C3/DS genetics… I can not say that they’re absolutely impossible to understand, yet genetics is not an area of Creatures for the fainthearted! Tolis made her home in the Norn Meso within moments, and kept me from feeling too guilty for not delving into her genetics. Not knowing adds a bit of mystery.
I tend to avoid choosing favorites, since I enjoy most of my Norns equally as much. There are a few that come along every now and then who demand a little extra attention, and seem to shine. Naeda was one such Norn: After popping out of her shell, she started sneaking about like a ninja, and generally looked adorable! I had a feeling that she had inherited more Hardman Norn genetics than her siblings, judging by her actions. What wonderful coloring!
Saedra’s final egg opened to reveal a handsome male, whom I dubbed Entid. As with his older brother, he was exported almost immediately after birth. I always feel some sadness when I export a Norn: Particularly a very young one. However, I have high hopes that they all will end up living out their lives somewhere. Maybe Entid’s adventure would be much more exciting than whatever fate would have met him in my C3/DS world of Remniova. He would only remain exported for a short time.
Gontor must have been proud of himself: He had wasted no time with the females! Although he was separated from Iollis and Meena, he was still close enough so that I could reintroduce him. He was a bit upset with his sudden banishment, but I tried to make him understand that it was for my benefit! I also wanted to keep the two sisters together as long as possible, since they got along very well. The next generation had only just begun… And I was already exhausted! Caring for Norns is never a simple task, and although it might seem like I act overwhelmed, I love it. I don’t feel as attached to my Creatures Docking Station Norns, yet there exists an attachment we all experience.

I must be one of the few people who have lots of norns that seem to be averse to kisspopping… most of the time I have loads of trouble getting them to breed without using agents like the cupid’s lyre… & sometimes even with the cupid’s lyre. My norns are apparently very contrary, so I’m glad to see that your norns are breeding so well for this.
I would love to have more of a happy medium, Mea! Ha ha! Mine must feel like the end of the world is near, and the only chance of species survival is a giant population of Norns. My Creatures 1 Norns are more difficult to breed, yet I like the challenge. It sometimes feels like my C3/DS Norns just have to breath, and a couple of eggs appear!
Aha! “He was a bit upset with his sudden banishment, but I tried to make him understand that it was for my benefit!” She admits it! ;)
I keep forgetting to ask, but what did you set the population limits at? Do those only exist in DS? (It’s been so very long since I played C3 online…) I never manage to check when you do a vid! >_<
Ha ha! I have the population limits set pretty high, only because I haven’t found a reason to limit the production of eggs. Docking Station allows you to easily change the population limits in the options tab, but you can still make changes in Creatures 3 with CAOS Codes (look under Utility). Just be aware that those codes should only be used for Creatures 3, and not for C3/DS or Docking Station.
