The Third Generation Alpha Couple in C3/DS
After a few delays over the weekend, including a thunderstorm, the next video documenting the third generation alpha couple has been completed! This one is a bit longer in length, but hopefully my ridiculous comments make the waiting fly by. This group of C3/DS Norns took a whole lot of time! Technically, the pregnant female at the end of the video must lay at least one egg before being crowned the alpha female: Time was of the essence, though, and I’ll be able to report on that situation in the future. For now, enjoy the newest Creatures video!

I can’t believe you went so long with so many Norns without a kisspop!
Grats to…ahem…the winners.
It was crazy, ArchDragon! I was worried that I would have to start cutting things out, but I somehow managed to make it in under fifteen minutes… With two seconds to spare! I guess they were just admiring the scenery that was hand drawn: I’m still impressed with the talent everyone has! That, and constantly expressing how much they disliked poor Chiare.
My next task when I play will be to export the males before they get any ideas. Seems like after the alpha couple claimed their spot, everyone else started getting friendly. At least the room won’t be as crowded in the future!
Ahah, soon as I saw this video in my feed reader, I squee’d a bit and went to make a nice cup of tea to watch it by. Hurrah!
Poor Chiare! It’s like they were all huddling around gossiping about her while she just bumbled off in the corner, playing with her toys. I kind of wanted her to win somehow at that point. Wouldn’t that be romantic! I can picture one of the males breaking away from all the dirty gossip and coming over to comfort her, and they fall in love.
…Sadly that silly fantasy was not to be XD Oh well! Congrats to the new alphas anyway!
It might be a little bit of extra work, but maybe it would help if creatures were imported into another world specifically for the succession test? The test world might be clear of unnecessary agents that might affect the speed (and in the meantime you could take the opportunity to back up the export files in case something goes horribly wrong.) Having a faster world would minimize the problem of the videos running too long as well. Just a thought!
Mmm, tea! This was one video where you needed to hunker down… I plan on having shorter videos in the future so no one has to stay glued to the screen every time! I have no idea what the general prejudice against Chiare was due to: She seemed less slap-happy than the other females while she was growing up. Maybe it was just her nonchalant, carefree Bondi attitude that the ladies were jealous of! At least she was smart enough to escape from the constant chatter, even after I threw her back in the pit!
That’s a great idea about a new world! I think it will be very helpful for videos… I’m probably going to start a new world for the fourth generation anyway, since I might want to use C2toDS, and Remniova currently has C1toDS. Thanks for the suggestion: Hopefully the next videos will be a bit faster and smoother without all the extra stuff going on in the background!
Wow… I’m use to it taking much longer for my creatures to breed, I’m lucky if they breed on their own without me having to use something like cupid’s lyre or the magic words ‘love time’ to force them to breed… and even then it happens fairly often that they still won’t breed. So I’m very glad to see yours breeding so quickly, at least they are breeding faster than mine do. Good luck with the next generation!
Another idea that may help with keeping the males & females separate while bringing the males over next time is the Norngarden’s stopper plant. Just put it between the two groups, turn it on & it will bounce them away from each other until you turn it off again.
Thanks, Mea! Your comment actually reminds me that I have a force field agent, which can be used to block access from one or both sides. Definitely should have remembered that for keeping the males and females apart initially. I’ll certainly keep it in mind for the future! This generation seems to have less kisspopping than my C1 Norns, which is out of the ordinary, but very welcome! I would rather have slow breeders most of the time, rather than my normal population of rabbits. Ha ha!
Another thing you could try is the Dummy Portal I made:
http://creaturescaves.com/cobs.php?game=C3DS&type=Toy
It helps norns manage their crowdedness in a smaller space – I believe crowdedness dampens sex drive.
I really enjoyed that visual sweep of the norn terrarium you did – it was good to see the ecosystem thriving.
Thanks for the recommendation, Malkin! I’ll definitely have to make use of the Dummy Portal, especially in the beginning of this current generation. The males might be exported, but there are still lots and lots of females to make everyone feel uncomfortably crowded! I’m glad you liked the quick sweep of the terrarium! I love the fixes from Vampess which made everything really come to life. When I move everyone to a brand new world in the future, there should be a few more additional life elements in the Norn Terrarium. Thanks again!
Thanks for each and every one of these videos…they are usually very informative, or in this case, very entertaining!=^_^=
I loved the advice from one of the Norns to ‘maybe rest something’ or ‘maybe right something’ when her companions complained of various matters. XD And everyone suggesting ‘maybe push norn’ but not wanting to do that task themselves. Ahaha! Norns can be so amusing sometimes. Also, I was downright terrified for Chiare at one point when Tolis began approaching her with that scary look on her face. Hardmans are meant to hit when angry, right? I was so relieved when Tolis played with toys instead. XD Poor, sweet Chiare! She’s welcome to come to Australia and hang out at Bondi beach for some respite from the angry mob anytime. :D …Maybe somebody should make a metaroom for Bondi’s…
You’re welcome! If I have enough time today, I’ve got the next video ready to be filmed. We’ll have to see how cooperative my Norns want to be! Chiare is actually available through CreatureLink, along with two of her children. I’m sure they would love to be adopted! A beach themed metaroom would be quite nice for the Bondi Norns, or any other type of creature who needs a little break from the craziness of the others!
If only Javin and Chiare had heard my chanting when they were near each other. *sighs*
I did find this location to be a little painful to watch, but bright colours on pale backgrounds do that for me.
