The Birth of Some Seriously Spotted Norns

After another successful alpha couple succession test in Creatures Docking Station, I had three shiny new eggs ready to burst! I hoped that Harpis would pass along some of her Civet Norn characteristics… Yet I wasn’t expecting to see her first son have spots all over! Anshou was almost identical to his mother, though he inherited his Zebra Norn arms from his father. He could not have been more different, yet that was exactly what I had hoped for. He seemed rather indifferent about his extra spottiness, but I was, naturally, overly excited! Because spots are really interesting. Truly, they are!

The next egg from Newbeau and Harpis revealed another little boy with an interesting hairstyle. This is Bravon! Though he wasn’t covered in spots like his brother, I was still very happy to see such a unique appearance. Although the fashion world usually looks down upon the mixing of stripes and spots, the pattern worked out rather well with these Norns. The next generation was off to an excellent start, and I had just one more egg to hatch. I carried Bravon to his older brother as the last of the three eggs began to crackle. The world paused for a moment in anticipation of its newest member…

To my amazement, another male popped out of his egg! Chario looked like someone had splashed him with paint, or spliced him with a Dalmatian. So many spots! He still had a unique appearance, though, with a Hardman Norn head and Zebra Norn tail. At this rate, the next generation should start to see a very different trend in appearances. It was nice to let the three brothers grow up together. Anshou and Chario formed a very strong bond, and were soon inseparable. They followed one another around, and generally had to be doing the same thing at the same time.

Meanwhile, the adults had spread themselves out in the Biodome. It wasn’t just a short trek to one another, either! I wanted to give Newbeau a chance to breed on his own before I panicked. Thankfully, only a few minutes passed before Corsia had some wonderful news to share with me. She was the last in her genetic line, indicated by the green leaf, yet I was nervous about the fact that she only had a single egg to lay. Corsia was oblivious, and carried on with her cheerful Norn ways. At least she wasn’t burdened with the added pain of laying multiple eggs. Only a few moments of discomfort marked the arrival of her pretty little egg. Although Newbeau wasn’t racing to meet the other females, Corsia’s egg wasn’t the only one.

The alpha couple soon had another son to add to the ranks! Derix looked almost identical to his older brother, Bravon, but his spots and stripes were reversed on his arms and legs. He carefully wandered over to a strange object before him, which turned out to be Corsia’s egg. I let Derix keep a close watch over it, though his attention was soon caught by the apples and mushrooms lying about. This was certainly a promising beginning to the alpha male succession test! Each little guy was unique in his own way, and could easily add new diverse appearance genes to the population. Yet that was much further in the future.

Newbeau and Harpis had a second egg to go along with Derix. Out popped a female, named Ersial. I was actually starting to worry that we would end up with far too many males! She was absolutely adorable, and I hated to export her. ‘Tis the way of the world, though. Many may be wondering what in the world is featured with each of the babies. This is the Coconut Dolly, my prize for winning Survivor! Ghosthande did an amazing job on this, as well as the Survivor Radio. Coconut Dolly will be vacationing in my world for a little while, but word has it that she’ll be available to all this autumn! Thanks again, Ghosthande, and to all who voted!

As fate had it, Corsia’s lone egg revealed a baby boy. Faltonios had the typical appearance that many of the Norns had taken on. It was a shame to see one genetic line come to an end, especially since none of these females had ever become the alpha female. The Harlequin Norn appearance genes had long since disappeared from the gene pool, though. That is one element of this scenario world that adds a little bit of a challenge, since some genetic lines can die out under unlucky circumstances. Those of this line will still be remembered, though! It’s just one risk I decided to build in, which ensures that nothing is guaranteed.

In the meantime, Kellis was given the special gift of new life. Oddly enough, she also had just a single egg to lay. The odds of having at least two eggs at once are over 50%, yet I’ve had much stranger things happen! Fortunately, this egg hatched to showcase a lovely female named Gherissa. Coconut Dolly was right there to welcome her into the world! She looked just like her mother, though I was less concerned with appearances. I relaxed with the knowledge that the eighth generation was both healthy and diverse. And, of course, adorable!
