Welcome Back, Creatures 1!
It was a nervous start to my day, as I set out to solve my broken Creatures 1 game. Most of the time we have an inkling of what caused the problem, but my game simply stopped working out of the blue! I made two backups of practically everything, just to be on the safe side. I did a clean reinstall, and decided to see if the game would even start up. It was the best way to begin my day! Just a few seconds of the usual loading screen, and I was back in Albia! Of course, there are still a bunch of things to do in transferring over my old files, including my current world. It works, though!
To see the game icon again was a lovely addition! Although there may be a few hiccups along the way, I’m thrilled to know that I can at least get the base game working without any trouble. I have it open in the background at the moment just to hear the beautiful music and sounds from Creatures 1 again. Sometimes it’s nice to have an empty world open to take a break from the chaotic lives of Norns, while still enjoying the game! I plan to have a new and substantial update posted soon, and then return to regular posts about Creatures 1. Thanks to everyone for sticking by during this rather calamitous Creatures crisis! Now to get the Creatures Remastered Patch and do some testing…

I would like to get back into the game as well. I have all three games, but I can’t find any of the tools anywhere. What does the remastered patch do? What about all of the object kits and breeds that I remember? Do they still exist?
All of the tools have been moved over to the new Gameware Europe domain, after the original Gameware Development domain went down earlier this year. It’s still the same company, and everything is available again! Some of the stuff is a little difficult to find, but I would be happy to point you in the right direction. A large portion of the content can be found here.
The Remastered Patch makes it possible to properly install official and third-party additions for Creatures: The Albian Years, Creatures Exodus, and Creatures Village. Without it, you won’t be able to install anything else.
Finally, which object kits and breeds are you referring to? Many of the official ones are included with the GOG versions. The Mall Breeds are still unavailable publicly. If you have anything in particular you remember, feel free to list them, and I would be happy to try to help you out with some more details!
