The Old and New Ways of Albian Life
There was a distinctly maternal nature to Hybralvao, especially after she befriended Thrennion. Although the two Norns parted ways, I soon found Hybralvao back in the garden! Her very first meeting with Zelroo was a beautiful one: She went over to tickle her, while little Zelroo learned how to say the word “Norn.” They made a very cute contrast between the old and new lives in Creatures 1. For all of the slapping that often goes on between Norns, it was refreshing to witness a tender moment like this one. Too bad they’re not more common!
Perhaps Preetar got the message that Artemiidae had begun! I found him gazing at a seahorse, which was a fairly rare occurrence. I was more interested in his quiet time: The island was hopping with activity, and plenty of Norns who were too busy to eat. Preetar was one of the younger males, and I didn’t want to risk him going completely infertile. Remember that stress can quickly drive a male Norn’s production of testosterone down. In many cases, I’ve had to work hard just to get some back to a healthy state. Better to make sure that they get consistent nutrition and breaks! There was little danger to Preetar, though. He was one of those Norns who could easily bounce back from a slightly stressful time. My real trouble was with some of the females, who were just as stubborn as ever. Ironically for them, stress took much longer to affect them to the point of infertility. As it was, I had no desire to see any more new eggs for awhile!
