A Double Dose of Awful in Creatures

Spinning Around in AlbiaThrennion was still reeling from the death of his brother, when Albia decided to hand him a really awful hand. Now, I may have an interest in studying illnesses in Creatures 1, but even I wasn’t prepared for what was about to come! It all started with a few innocent coughs. Owing to the fact that there wasn’t in the vicinity that would cause this, I knew something was brewing on a chemical level. Incidentally, this was also when I discovered a pretty decent technique for stopping Norns from spinning around and around while coughing. They usually do this while they’re holding an item, and they just can’t seem to grab it as they spin around. The solution? Type in a word to move the Norn’s attention on something else, like “hand” or whatever word makes the most sense. That helped Thrennion finally eat up that carrot he was dancing with!

Toxins Galore for the Hundredth TimeSo I had a date with destiny, courtesy of the chemical graphing feature. It wasn’t a pretty sight, but there was no escape… Especially for Thrennion. He was in a stubborn mood where food was absolutely unnecessary. Luckily, antigen 6 was no match for his rather quick production of antibody 6. His life force only dropped slightly before all of the toxins disappeared from his system. I stayed close by, though, since Thrennion still needed some company. He was quite lonely, while Dahloi and Zelroo were perfectly happy with their interlude of solitary living. There was no way another illness would sweep through so quickly, but I wanted to get my stubborn little guy back on track with his nutrition. Then he coughed once. I assumed it was just some residual effect from the illness he just fought off.

The Dangers of Slow Moving AntibodiesI was wrong. Creatures 1 illnesses are almost always spread out, and it’s even rare to have two different illnesses in a world at the same time. In all my time playing, I’ve only seen it happen a few times. This, on the other hand, was a completely new experience! Thrennion was still recovering from his first infection, which he literally fought off a couple of minutes before this one showed up. Unfortunately for him, antigen 0 had a very slow counterpart with antibody 0. Thrennion’s life force started to plummet, and he was in serious peril. The coughing made eating all that more difficult, and he still wasn’t really up to it. He managed to eat a few pieces of food, yet he definitely wasn’t keeping up with the amount of glucose his body needed to fight off the bacteria. I practically yelled at him to fight it off!

Fighting Back in Creatures with PositivityAlthough Thrennion took a moment to smile at me and reassure me that he was going to be OK, I had a sinking feeling. His life force was down to about 40%, and he wasn’t even halfway to the point of winning over this antigen. It seems like Norns and Grendels pick the most inopportune times to stop taking care of themselves! Then again, there are a lot of factors with the objects in Creatures 1 that show how it isn’t completely their fault. After losing Preetar such a short time ago, though, I really didn’t want to see Thrennion pass away from this ridiculous impostor. He wasn’t even an old Norn. It wasn’t fair. Still, there was the small chance that he could pull through and live. Remember the video of Pipit? Come back soon to find out what will happen to Thrennion, and be sure to wish him well!
