The Next Lucky Couple in Creatures Docking Station
Settle in for a video featuring the fourth generation Creatures Docking Station Norns! I had a wonderful time with this alpha couple challenge, particularly since it went by a little more quickly and was filled with humor. The remaining males will be exported and added to CreatureLink in the near future. I actually have a bit of updating to do on that front: There should be a bunch of new Creatures 1 and Creatures 3/Docking Station Norns posted this week! Congratulations to the newest alpha couple!

I laughed a bit when Davira wound up being the Alpha female. So much for all that hate, eh other females?
On another note, you can customize the music for Veridia if you’re getting sick of the normal DS music. If you use MNGPlayer to determine which track you want, you can type this into the CAOs Command Line when the hand is in the room:
“targ pntr mmsc posx posy “filename.mng\TrackName”
where “filename” is the name of the mng file and TrackName is the name of the track.
Hehe, I was rooting for Davira too! All that dislike towards her, but she showed them by becoming alpha female. :P
Also, I just want to say, I love your blog. Your C3/DS scenario is really interesting, I really like watching your videos.
(:
Grendel Man: I laughed, too! It was a fitting ending to all that dislike and hatred the others kept throwing at her. Besides her self-induced isolation at times, Davira never let them get to her. Thanks for the tip on the music in Veridia! I had no idea the music could be changed that easily. I’ll have to give it a try, especially since I’m quickly tiring of the music.
Anonymous: I’m glad it’s just the other Norns who dislike Davira so much! Her more unique appearance should add a boost of diversity into this next generation. The alpha males have been looking pretty similar lately… Maybe we’ll have a very different one next time! And thank you so much for the kind words about my blog and videos! I always enjoy knowing that others enjoy my rambling. Hopefully you’ll continue to enjoy everything in the future!
I see you have seeded the room with some mushrooms and those tube things that grow in the DS meso, but how did you get the plants to grow on the trees? I have that same metaroom and there is nothing in it at all.
It’s actually a super stealthy way to show off the alpha version of the Garden Box! I’ve been helping to test it out, and most of the food sources were placed with this nifty tool. I know Amaikokonut is still working on it, which is why I didn’t bring much attention to the background elements, but I figured this would be noticed eventually! The Garden Box is awesome, and will hopefully be available for release in the near future!
Great video! It was a lot of fun, especially when Davira ended up becoming the alpha female. It’s also getting me interested in playing C3/DS again, (I didn’t realize you could limit their speech like that. That would make interacting with the C3 norns much more appealing!)
Also awesome about Garden Box, it’s good to see that it’s functioning so well!
YAY DAVIRA!!! i love how they all seem to gang up on the one norn but i’m glad she became alpha female. i’d like to think she only did it to prove them wrong xD
garden box huh? that would be really really helpful for me in places like veridia
That’s great! I can’t wait to use it myself! :D *excited face*
Roflmao, yay Davira!
Glad to see others using the Garden Box. Since you’re last post I also got my hands on Veridia and the two go hand in hand very nicely. I’ve even managed to get a group of Grendels migrating using the two agents which was very exciting.
Jessi: Thanks for watching, and for the comments! C3/DS can be lots of fun, although I still prefer C1 for some reason. The option to turn off voices in C3/DS can also be a blessing when they know the language… They can go deaf listening to themselves, while I can sit back and enjoy more peaceful sounds!
Lilliumbird: I think Davira wanted to make a point, too! I’m glad she was successful. The Garden Box is still in development by Amaikokonut, but it’s proven to be one of my favorite things in C3/DS. Ever. I imagine its release will be huge news!
Kittie: Hopefully Amai will finish it up soon! I know lots of people have been looking forward to the Garden Box, and I can’t wait to see how well it’s received when it gets released.
ArchDragon: Veridia seemed like a perfect spot to test out the Garden Box! I admittedly used it fairly sparingly, since there isn’t much of an ecosystem. I figured giving everyone lots to eat would make them happy enough without slowing down the world too much! It’s awesome to hear that migration seems to work with the seasonal options: I might just have to try that out sometime!
Ooh. Yes! All the haters shall be exported–once they clutch, of course–so good on Davira. :)
As for the Garden Box, if I could actually get Veridia to support Norn life that would be a rather interesting option instead of what I’m currently settling with. I’ll have to see if it’s out!
And I see that it is! Though it needs other agents to work, apparently. Hopefully DS came with some. (Yes, I am not a Creatures coders, which you can probably tell;)
