The Trouble with Old Grendels and Adventures
My last Grendel, Dahloi, was pretty much living a quiet life. I hadn’t even checked in on him for awhile, yet there he stood! He was stuck in a rut, reverting to looking at everything. It reminded me of the way Hybralvao had become obsessed with the word “drop” and used it in ever manner! Dahloi seemed lonely, even though he had plenty of food and toys. So I made the decision to take him on an adventure across Albia, so that he might find something interesting to do. There was no need to delay: Dahloi happily followed along as I started us out on an exciting journey!
The anticipation was obvious: Dahloi smiled the entire time he was on the underground cart, and I had to smile along with him. The desert island was a pretty decent place to hang out, yet it was rather small if one stayed there for hours. Dahloi was off to see the rest of the world that he hadn’t visited in a very long time! Having a single Grendel really made me realize how nice it was to have a couple of them around. Coupled with the right updates, Creatures 1 Grendels make wonderful companions for Norns! They also have their own personalities, which rarely include violent behavior.
We made it to the old settlement, and started peering around. After a short ride in the lift and a little snack, Dahloi decided that it was the perfect time… For a nap. At nearly 22 hours old, I couldn’t blame the old guy for running out of steam! He curled up right next to the goldfish. I thought it was his newest friend, but he completely ignored it in favor of the lift buttons. Once his nap was over, Dahloi was off to see the rest of the settlement! He looked at some food, found the place where I stored all of the unhatched eggs, and was ready for a real adventure. The lift arrived to whisk him away…
He was whisked away, alright, right into the land of dreams! Dahloi fell asleep again, and it was soon pretty apparent that this adventure wasn’t going anywhere. Or maybe it was, at least in Dahloi’s mind! Although we didn’t actually do much more than ride a cart and lift, he appeared to be more active and interested in his surroundings. It was a small victory for an old Grendel! I still remembered when I hatched Dahloi, over a year ago. Technically, this entire generation could have taken place in the span of one realtime day. I seem to take forever in chronicling the lives of my Creatures 1 Norns and Grendels! It looks like we’ll be seeing the end of these sorts of updates soon, at least until I finish up some C1 projects. I’ll still be as active as ever, though!

I like the slow way you document every interesting event in each Norn and Grendel’s life. I really feel like I get to know the creatures you’re talking about. Although I am excited about what you’ll be doing next, I’ll miss these kinds of posts.
Thank you very much! I do love the way we all get so involved with each Norn and Grendel with these sorts of updates. Luckily, these posts won’t be gone for too long! I’d like to make some major progress on fixing up the C1 Norn sprites, and maybe even do a few more COB updates. I’ll be very motivated to get things finished up as soon as I can so I can return to these sorts of posts! And if anyone misses them too much… There are hundreds of previous posts to go through again!
