Breaking the Patterns of Life in a Norn World

The Dead Sleep of an Island VacationI was more convinced than ever that Krathlaysi was the correct subject of my inquiry into non intelligence. However, her stint on the Albian island proved to be rather enlightening for her! That is, until I found her on the upper level. Perhaps it was the heat of the sun, but she managed to eat a toxic weed, ignore the honeypot, and then fall into a deep slumber that lasted far too long. Right before I left the world, she was still in the exact same spot… Only awake! Krathlaysi was destined to not be very sharp, nor bright, yet she was a fun Norn to have around. At least her low brain power didn’t get her into much trouble! It also wasn’t genetic, so the fact that it wasn’t hereditary was on her side!

The Sudden Surprise of a Father to BeThe most recent addition to the next generation came from Brekennion and Hybralvao. Being the adventurous type, she traveled quite far to find her original love, Hleengar. Their devoted relationship appeared to have run its course, though. Losthrayte was marginally disappointed that she had not yet become a mother. When she laid her eyes on the handsome Santa Norn, their fate was sealed! Only the budding romance started at the most inopportune of times, with Hybralvao just steps away. She had a couple of words with Hleengar, and sent him reeling with a rather impolite slap. Poor Hleengar!

An Illustration of the Importance of Proper NutritionWhereas one of my male Norns was doing just fine in the fertility department, I discovered that Brekennion had nearly stopped his testosterone production completely. Without testosterone, a male Norn is rendered completely infertile and has no chance of having any baby Norns. His encounters with antigens certainly stressed his system out, and Brekennion was not one of the best eaters. He took a few steps away from the small group he was with, and I took the opportunity to separate him completely. Quarantine procedures aren’t just for illnesses, after all! Naturally, he refused to sleep. I had to settle for him standing still for a short time, which was better than nothing. More importantly, he enjoyed some good nutrition from the carrots and lemons I brought him. This graph shows how his testosterone increased during a fairly long time span of ten minutes. It still wasn’t ideal, but at least Brekennion was fertile again! Mission accomplished, for now.

The Serious Look of Thinking on a NornHybralvao decided to head off on her own for a short time to think things over and ponder over what happened to Hleengar. It was a tough lesson for her to learn, but the world of Norns often came with difficult realizations. She was still a very successful adult, with three children ready for the next generation. I hoped a little offering of honey would help her get through the moment. As with most Norns, Hybralvao forgot all her troubles when she caught sight of her favorite treat! Honey isn’t right for every scenario in Creatures 1, but it certainly comes in handy most of the time! With everyone in excellent health and spread out, I was just about ready to rummage through the genetic files to find the next Norn. Not too long until her introduction!
