A Temporary Break from Creatures
How very strange time can be! I thought I had just posted my last Creatures update a few days ago, yet suddenly an entire month flew by! Life has been extremely busy for me, yet I’m thankful that Creatures is a game series that can easily be picked up whenever time allows. Time has not allowed me much spare time, although all is going very well! I had an absolutely wonderful birthday, which took me back to the one celebration when I was introduced to Creatures 1. Things have been very quiet from me lately, yet I hope everyone understands! I normally have a rather erratic spare time schedule, which means that Creatures can sometimes take a backseat while other slightly more important things take up my time.

The bad news is that I’m not sure when I will have a lot of free time in August to devote to Creatures. That doesn’t mean I’m disappearing entirely, if I can help it! The Discover Albia Forum will continue to be active, and I plan to ensure that the August Creatures Challenges are in place this week. I hope to get back to watching over my Norns and Grendels as soon as possible, while also diving into some more lessons. There is most certainly a very bright future ahead! Sometimes, though, it takes a little time away before things can start going again. I’m still here, though, and I’ll catch up with everyone soon!

On a somewhat related note, there is a video game coming out in August that has me quite intrigued. Likely any free time I stumble across will be devoted to giving it a whirl. I feel a little guilty about making Creatures play second fiddle, but the games have stood the test of time. Although I have taken many breaks throughout the years, I have never failed to return to the world of Albia! I think that’s one of the best things about Creatures: There aren’t any issues about taking a break, and returning to play after weeks or months feels wonderful. I’m sure I’ll get there! In the end, it all boils down to having fun, being happy, and enjoying life. All the best to you all: I’ll be back before you know it!

I don’t think any of us should feel guilty for jumping ship to No Man’s Sky for a while!! :D
Ha ha! I wasn’t sure if anyone would guess the game, but I suppose it’s pretty obvious. I’m still trying not to get my hopes up too high… Yet I am pretty excited. I’ll enjoy it for what it is, and I’m hoping that it makes science interesting. That’s what Creatures did for me: Concepts in biology class were familiar from playing with my Norns, and I realized that I was actually learning real life stuff while actually labeling science “cool” at a time when it was just a boring school subject. I can’t wait to see what No Man’s Sky is like! Maybe someone will find a disc-shaped planet and name it Albia… Ha!
I’m a little sad I only found out about Creatures and your blog when you went on a hiatus, and also sorry if No Man’s Sky didn’t meet your expectations (there were both positive and negative opinions from what I’ve heard).
Still, it was a very good read! I’m into entries from 2015 after starting from the very beginning now, and it certainly has given me the push to document my own Creatures’ antics and lives, as well as given me more appreciation for them! Good luck!
Thank you for the kind words! That hiatus went a bit longer than I anticipated, although if it’s any consolation, I haven’t been sitting around enjoying every other game besides Creatures… It’s been a whole lot of work, although that’s not a terrible thing! No Man’s Sky was a bit of a letdown for me, which I hate to admit. I really wanted to love the game, but it got so repetitive and seemed so devoid of the things it promised. I’m holding out a sliver of hope that it will get better in the long-run, but that’s yet to be seen.
What game never disappoints? Creatures! I’m going to be jumping back in shortly, and hopefully you’ll enjoy the new content! I know it’s quite late, but how have you done in terms of documenting your Creatures’ lives? I find it to be a really fun way to play the game and give them a little more personality than they might otherwise have. Anyways, thanks again for stopping by to read everything! I’ll have some new stuff up within the next few days!
