Finding the Real Fool in Creatures 1
There was a calling throughout my Creatures 1 world, and Brekennion was the first to answer it. Its purpose was far from complex… For it was the call of slumberland! Hybralvao, Losthrayte, and Pfeffablel all watched on with interest as their friend drifted off to sleep. It was the perfect opportunity for them to relieve their exhaustion and sleepiness, but alas, they were acting like typical Norns! Brekennion was mostly worn out after he watched over his egg. I was convinced he was disappointed that he couldn’t take a tiny bite out of the shell! Perhaps his dreams were all about the edible delicacies he could enjoy.
Nearby, the sleeping bug caught up with Krathlaysi! It actually wasn’t any sort of dangerous bug, like that serious illness that she was hit with. This was just some good, old-fashioned sleep! Preetar looked on anxiously, for he was still rather new to this whole concept of getting in a good nap. He was also rather fond of Krathlaysi, though: As soon as she awoke, there was a little egg on its way! Maybe she should have saved that nap for just a little while longer. Preetar, on the other hand, was simply thrilled with himself!
Hybralvao decided to give Brekennion a little taste of his own medicine. While he was very interested in playing with her, she brushed him aside to get some very important rest. His expression said it all! It looked like he understood why everyone crowded around him while he slept. Other Norns were the most interesting thing in Albia, and having a sleeping one in the group meant that playtime was spoiled! If only they all could somehow take a social cue and sleep all at once. That was definitely asking too much from the minds of Norns! I appreciated their intelligence, but it could only take them so far.
Finally, there was Athahain. She must have caught wind of the uproar generated by Krathlaysi when she napped in the shower. It looked to be a very uncomfortable spot, but I must not have been in tune with my Norns’ preferences! I thought of playing an April Fools’ Day prank on Athahain… The rope to turn the water on was right there, and probably wouldn’t have given her much of a jolt. As I was contemplating this, however, she woke up with a smile. Guess I was the fool after all!

This brightened my day!
…I do wonder what Norns dream of, though. Cheese, eggs and running into walls, perhaps?
I’m very glad about that, Chip! So many deaths seem to be going on in my world lately, so these bright spots make me laugh, too. Apparently some Norns must dream about becoming a Cart Norn…
