Communicating Updates to Discover Albia
I try to update Discover Albia at least twice a day with new content. As I was working on a new post today, I thought about the different ways that new and returning visitors reach the blog. I can also imagine the frustration of visiting a few times without seeing anything new, since I’m usually quite impatient when it comes to waiting!
This brought me to think about the best ways of communicating updates. As usual, I’m seeking your wonderful input! Almost every comment made so far has led to deeper thinking or the uncovering of an interesting fact, and I am very thankful to everyone who has visited and posted! My goal is to make it fun to visit Discover Albia by streamlining the update process as much as possible.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could take a moment to participate in the following poll. Feedback via comments is also most welcome! Aside from improving Discover Albia, I’m also hoping to find out if the Creatures community can be brought together in new ways with different forms of communication. Thanks again!

I only use the internet in the evening, so just check when I log on. I’m just impressed that you’re managing to generate the output you are. Most blogs I read don’t get updated daily.
Having “Other” as an option in a poll is always a gamble… Some like to elaborate, and others choose not to. But I am very curious about what other method of communication is preferred: Most of these methods are simple to set up, and some already are!

Thank you to everyone for voting so far! I find it surprising that Facebook is preferred over Twitter. I’ll definitely be figuring out ways to tie it in with updates!

I think I may have voted other in addition to a couple of the predetermined options. I was hoping for some stuff on community sites, I guess just forum posts if that’s all that’s possible.
Forum updates seem like another popular option: Any preference on which forum(s)? I’d like to post updates on both Creaturetopia and Creatures Caves, but don’t want to end up spamming. I’ll figure out something soon and start utilizing forum updates, as well as Facebook updates, sometime this week. Thanks again for all the feedback!
Creatures Caves is my preference, but I’m not entirely sure which has more active members. I think cross-posting is acceptable under certain circumstances, but I don’t know if this is one of those. :P
At Creatures Caves, I could utilize the status updates feature: It’s not widely used, and doesn’t appear to use a timestamp, but this would be a way to make updates known at Creatures Caves without posting. I’ll try to contact some administrators/moderators at both forums to see what would be acceptable: The last thing I want to do is annoy the community with redundant posts.
I think both forums have a fair amount of similar users, although Creaturetopia seems to be a more popular source for visits to Discover Albia. It’s good to know that we have two very active forums!
